Simple Word Searching

• You might want to use the Find tool if you
• - dont want to scroll or read through long
  documents to find one bit of information
• - want to save time when searching for specific
  information
• - want to find a specific word and variations
  of that word - want to find a specific name
  buried in a long surname or obit file

How Find Works

• SITUATION Im helping a patron search for
  resources on Pennsylvania MennonitesI know
  that Cyndis List will contain info. that will be
  relevantRather than scrolling and reading
  through the PA section, searching for
  mennonite, I use Find to locate each time the
  word appears

• Cyndis List Pennsylvania
• http//www.cyndislist.com/pa.htm

• Click on EDIT at the top of your IE window
• Locate the Find (on This Page) option
• Click on it with your mouse

• Type a word in the Find what box and click on
  the FIND NEXT button
• Notice the highlighted word

• If you press FIND NEXT again, it will locate and
  highlight the next instance of the wordNotice,
  it locates the plural of the word

• Once Find cant locate any more instances of
  the term, itll display a box to let you know
  that its done searching Click on the OK button
  to close the box and end your search

• Folks can use Find to locate a site buried in
  a long alphabetical list of sites

  used Find to find the word GENEALOGYa real
  time saverI can move from page to page of
  search results, using Find to locate all
  references to the term
