Kanha is one of the finest best administered
National Parks in Asia, an attraction for
wildlife
lovers, a true heaven for its animal and parks
flora
and fauna. Kanha National Park is in the
Mandla
and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh,
India.
In the 1930s, Kanha area was divided
into two
sanctuaries, Hallon and Banjar, of 250
and 300
km². This park was created on 1 June 1955.
Today
it stretches over an area of 940 km² in
the two
districts Mandla and Balaghat together
with a
surrounding buffer zone of 1,067 km².
In 1894, the mighty forests of Kanha inspired
Rudyard Kipling to pen his famous novel,
the
Jungle Book and thanks to the
conservation
efforts, the Kanha National Park still
thrives with
the Royal Bengal tigers, leopards,
Barasingha,
sloth bears, wild dogs, wild cats,
foxes and
jackals.
Perched on the banks of the Banjar
River,
