Printing
  • Common printing methods
  • Gravure ( gt 300.000 pieces )
  • Flexo ( 15.000 300.000 pieces)
  • Offset ( 30.000 1 Mio. pieces )
  • Digital ( smaller volumes )
  • Reverse printing
  • ? Sleeve transparent, printed side is protected
  • No corona treatment necessary for PVC PET
    sleeve film
  • (probable exception UV-Flexo printing)
  • Special shrinkable inks needed
  • Distortion of printing design, pre-press art work

10
Printing
11
Tubeforming
  • Sleeve formed to an endless tube
  • most common Solvent welding

12
What does shrinkage mean?
40 mm
60 Shrinkage
100 mm
13
How to apply Sleeves
  • Manual and also automated applications are
possible. The fully automatic applications work
on an endless tubing method, while manual
converting requires a single segment of tubing
    for each bottle .
  • Cutting system depending on line speed, low speed
(lt250 per min) by guillotine knife, high speed by
    blades on rotary axes

14
How to shrink Sleeves
  • Shrinkage by either
  • infra-red radiation, bad temp. profile, flat
    shrink curve necessary
  • hot air tunnel, more homogenous
  • steam tunnel, best shrink result

Heat
15
Marketing Advantages of Shrink Sleeves
  • Full body decoration
  • Shelf impact
  • Scuff resistance
  • Innovative forms and shapes
  • Difficult pack combinations
  • Product differentiation

16
Economical and Technical Possibilities
  • Economical benefit
  • Easy stocking (only one base container)
  • Reduction of costs for printing waste (metal ?
    film)
  • Reuse of unsold aerosols by re-labelling
  • Small series become profitable
  • Technical advantages
  • No pre-treatment necessary (primer)
  • Most sophisticated printing quality (9 colour
    printing)
  • Shaped aerosol possible (up to 75)
