  • MFASIS Upgrade Deployment Update
  • The revised go-live date of the project is now
    planned for 10/01/06.
  • Extended deployment strategy will reduce any
risks to a more acceptable level.
  • This deployment strategy requires that ongoing
development and testing efforts continue toward
their current planned completion dates and that
additional testing occur with all interfaces.

Training Approach
  • ADVANTAGE application user training is critical
to the successful implementation and acceptance
of the system. The AdvantageME Training Lead
along with assistance from CGI will develop and
deliver a training curriculum and materials to
train the trainers and for the End Users a
curriculum covering general use of the
    application.

6
  • Up to 600 State employees will require training
as required by their agency. Due to the magnitude
of employee training, the project will primarily
use a Train the Trainer approach. Trainers
identified by each participating agency will be
    responsible for training supervisors and
employees in their agencies. Agency trainers
will be trained by project staff (SOM) to carry
out this role. As necessary, additional training
assistance may come from the CORE team, and CGI.

7
Training Assumptions
  • Agency operations will be impacted by
implementation. Some operations, not known to
the project team may take precedence over
    training at a specific time.
  • Multiple training facilities with individual
access to machines will be used to train agency
    trainers.
  • Trainers will be selected from Financial,
    Procurement, InfoAdvantage, and Security sections
    at each department.
  • It is intended for agencies to provide help desk
    support.
  • Agency trainers will provide ongoing training to
new employees after the project close down.

8
  • Project staff (SOM CGI) will train
    approximately 50 agency trainers.
  • The project will provide training for central and
agency support staff, both business and
technical, allowing them to respond to and
resolve user questions and problems associated
    with AdvantageME.
  • Training will occur through instructor led
training and a Premier Conferencing delivery.

Unit Contact Information
  • Some of you may be familiar with the fact that
MFASIS stores values for contact phone numbers by
appropriation. This contact information is what
is displayed on checks to allow a payee to
contact the appropriate personnel with questions.
The ACON table where this information is stored
can't be converted to the new system values.

22
  • During the batch process that creates the check,
the new system populates the contact number field
based on information contained in several tables
    in the following order
  • 1. Unit (Report Org) Code Contact
  • 2. If no contact present for Unit, then the
    Department Code Contact is used
  • 3. If no contact present for Unit or Dept, then
the Default Contact Code (system wide) defined
    for the batch is used.

23
  • In order to populate the contact number field for
checks we are asking all agencies for at least
one contact name and phone number per agency to
default on check addenda (stub). Each agency has
the option of giving one contact name and number
per unit as well. We have attached a suggested
spreadsheet to use as a template. Please add a
tab for each agency and feel free to make changes
as needed. If you have any questions please
contact Terry Brann. Responses should be emailed
    to amanda.goldsmith_at_maine.gov.
