Establishment of Specialized Groups on Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy
  • IEC/SMB
  • Established Strategic Group 1 in February 2007
  • - Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan,
    Spain, UK, USA
  • - First meeting held in May at DKE, Frankfurt
  • ISO/Council
  • Established Council Task Force in April 2007
  • - Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan,
    Korea, Malaysia, Slovenia, UK, USA IEA, IEC
  • - First meting held in June at ISO/CS, Geneva

Outcomes of Discussions by the Groups
  • Both IEC and ISO groups reconfirmed the
    importance of the issue of energy efficiency
    (renewable energy as well by ISO)
  • Agreed to conduct detailed portfolio/gap analysis
    of international standards and related activities
    as a first step

- IEC to continue the Strategic Group 1 - ISO to
create a Strategic Advisory Group under the TMB

    including horizontal issues such as energy
    management
  • - Different types of players and stakeholders in
    both developed/developing countries
