Purpose of moderation
  • To provide assurance that
  • assessments are fair, valid and at the national
    standard
  • teachers are making consistent judgements about
    student performance.

  • Task, marking schedule and student work- 4
samples for Unit Standards and 8 for Achievement
    Standards
  • Any additional explanatory notes (for example if
assessing 90252 by portfolio of practical work)
  • Optional teacher-selected assessed work for
    professional feedback

5
Teacher-selected assessed work
  • Teachers can send additional samples of student
work to ask a specific question of the moderator
  • Up to four additional samples can be submitted
these must be for the same standard as is being
    moderated
  • Paired samples on either side of a grade boundary
would help to determine that boundary
  • Feedback is given separately and not included in
    the moderation report
