Title: This PowerPoint presentation has been created to accompany GMTU Report 1055
1GMATS Surveys 2002 Report 1055P Higher
Education Precinct
- This PowerPoint presentation has been created to
accompany GMTU Report 1055 GMATS Higher
Education Precinct report - Whereas report 1055 presents detailed
tabulations, this presentation has been designed
to provide a summary of the main aspects of the
data
2GMATS Surveys 2002 Report 1055P Higher
Education Precinct
- The presentation has been designed so that it can
be used independently of GMTU Report 1055 for
those who want an overview of the traffic
movements around the Higher Education Precinct
but do not wish to see the detailed tabulations - GMTU Reports 1055 1055P are part of a series of
reports presenting the data from the 2002 GMATS
surveys
3GMATS Surveys 2002 Higher Education
Precinct GMATS Surveys
- Travellers leaving the Higher Education Precinct
by car, bus, train and Metrolink were asked about
their journeys as they crossed a cordon - This is the same cordon used for the analysis of
the regional centre and reported in GMTU reports
996 and 996P - Since this cordon encircles both the HEP and
regional centre, no information from this survey
on trips between the HEP and the City Centre
4GMATS Surveys 2002 Higher Education Precinct M60
Surveys
- As part of the study into the effects of the
completion of the M60 motorway box, surveys were
undertaken in 2003 on buses and cars on three
sites lying between the HEP and the City Centre.
These sites were on Cambridge Street, Oxford Road
and Upper Brook Street - Data from these three sites has been analysed to
provide information on the movements between the
HEP and the City Centre not observed by the GMATS
surveys
5Higher Education Precinct Definition
- The following slide shows the definition of the
HEP used in this analysis together with the
Regional Centre and the GMATS cordon sites - The M60 sites shown on the slide used in the are
analysis towards the end of the presentation to
identify movements between the HEP and city
centre missed by the GMATS cordon
