Title: Coral Strand Smart Choice - Seychelles World Heritage

1
Coral Strand Smart Choice Seychelles World
Heritage
Seychelles are amazing islands. Its nature and
historical values ??are appreciated by the
UNESCO. Two of the Seychelles sights are
recognized as World Heritage, and two more are in
the waiting list.
2
Aldabra atoll
3
It is a unique place, inhabited by several tens
of thousands of giant turtles. This is the only
place where unique long-livers (some of whom
lived 150 years) can be found in their natural
habitat. Now the island has about 150,000
individuals. Therefore, it is of great interest
to scientists, and it was even declared a
scientific station.
4
There are also other species of living beings,
some of them are also endemic. These are
Seychelles flying dogs, freshwater fish found
only in rainwater, crustaceans and land snails.
The isolation of the island from the outside
world contributes to the fact that sea birds love
to nest here (frigate bird, phaeton, white tern
and red-footed booby). The flora of Aldabra is
also very rich, represented by almost 300 species
of ferns and flowering plants.
5
Vallee de Mei
6
It is a place where a large number of rare plant
and animal species is found, for example, the
Seychelles palm tree with gigantic seeds. On the
granite island of Praslin in its very centre,
palm forest was preserved. This forest is a
cluster of many endemic plants and living beings,
the most famous of which is the Seychelles
coconut palm, made famous for the fact that its
seeds are the largest on the planet. The weight
of some fruits reaches 20 kilograms.
7
In addition to this palm tree, which has a very
impressive offspring and considerable growth
(the largest trees reach a height of 30-40
meters), 5 more species of endemic palm trees
grow in the forest. There are more than 100
species of birds, mammals and reptiles, among
which, which is natural for these places, there
are also quite a few endemics.
8
Two sights, proposed by the Seychelles government
as candidates for inscription to the World
Heritage list
Silhouette Island
Mission Ruins of Venn's Town
9
Mission Ruins of Venn's Town
10
Venn Town is located in the heart of the Morne
Seychelles National Park on the island of Mahe.
From Victoria - Seychelles capital, you can get
here quickly. Venn's Town for tourists is a
wonderful combination of beautiful nature and
history. The second name of the town is the Ruins
of the Mission. In the middle of the 19th
century, the Anglican Church established a school
for the children of slaves. Thanks to the
efforts of the government, endemic plants began
to grow here again, in addition, grand seabirds,
white-tailed phaetons, and kestrels settled in
the trees. Also grow here breadfruit, tangerine
and cinnamon tree.
11
Silhouette Island
12
Silhouette is the third largest granite island
of the archipelago. The islands population is
only about 150 people. There are no highways,
only paths. Most of the wildlife has come down
to us in its unchanged form since ancient
times. The island is located not far (20 km) from
Mahe and is well visible from the famous Mahe Bo
Vallon beach. You can get to the Silhouette
from Mahe by helicopter (about 15 minutes) or by
ferry.
