we have together, questions that arise of
interest to all, will be collected. Since the
session is being recorded, attendees will be

Welcome to the EWGA WebEx training session for
Chapter Championship Directors (CCD). During the
presentation I will reference the Chapter
Championship Manual and its appendices, so please
have these documents available during the
presentation. If you have not downloaded the
Chapter Championship Manual, you may do so by
logging in to the Members Only site of
www.EWGA.com, then follow the instructions

Changes to EWGA Championship Structure

  • Sections re-organized into 15 districts
  • Districts divided into Bands based on geographic

  • Benefits
  • Allows access to more golf courses since the
    participation numbers at each Semi-Final will be
    between 70-100

RECEIVE PROCESS REGISTRATION FORMS

  • Submit copies to AHQ and file originals for at
    least (3) three months following EWGA
    Championship Final.

EXEMPT PLAYER STATUS GUIDELINES
  • 1st Place Low Gross Low Net in each flight and
    1st Place Scramble Team
  • Exempt players may chose to PLAY or COMPETE
  • PLAY participate in Chapter Semi-Final
    Championships for fun or practice
  • COMPETE intent to accept an award/place in the
    Chapter or Semi-Final Championship
  • Exempt Stroke Play Champions handicap index on
    final registration date of Chapter Championship
    will determine flight
  • Exempt Scramble Team
  • Original four members from previous year
  • Team computation factor - based upon individual
    handicap indexes on final registration date of
    Chapter Championship
  • CCD will receive a copy of the EXEMPT
    competitors registration form

MAIL ENTRY CONFIRMATION PACKAGES
  • Confirmation packages provided to competitors
    within (5) five days of receipt of their
    registration forms.
  • Packages should include
  • Confirmation letter (Sample - App. M)
  • Participant Information Form (App. E-Stroke Play,
    App. F-Scramble)
  • Pace of Play Guidelines (App. AA)

VERIFY HANDICAP INFORMATION
  • Verify Handicap Indexes
  • The handicap index as of the most recent handicap
    revision date prior to the Chapter Championship
    date will be the effective handicap index.
  • USGA Handicap Revision Schedule can be located on
    the USGA website at http//www.usga.org/playing/h
    andicaps/understanding_handicap/handicap_revision_
    schedule.html
  • Participants are required to have at least (3)
    eighteen-hole or (6) six nine-hole rounds posted
    to their handicap record for the current year.

DETERMINE STROKE PLAY FLIGHTS SCRAMBLE TEAM
HANDICAP
  • Stroke Play assign flights by handicap index
  • Scramble Handicap Index will determine
    individual computation factor
  • Sum of individual computation factors will equal
    team computation factor
  • Team Computation Factor shall not be greater than
    4 or less than -4
  • Advancing participants must provide proof of
    verifiable handicap index or they will only be
    eligible for the GROSS competition.
  • Remember you may not have competitors in all
    five flights

SUBMIT ENTRY INFORMATION TO AHQ
  • Registration materials must be received by AHQ at
    least (10) calendar days prior to your Chapter
    Championship. Overnight shipping recommended
  • This package shall include
  • Chapter Championship Summary Form (App. L) and
    electronic spreadsheet
  • provided to CCDs prior to C.C. close of
    registration not official spreadsheet
  • Copy of each players registration form
  • A lump sum check for all EWGA Championship entry
    fees (35.00 per participant)

COMPLETE TOURNAMENT ADMINISTRATION
  • Master Electronic Spreadsheet sent from AHQ
    within (5) five days of receiving the
    Registration package.
  • Prepare pairings Starting times/holes
  • Stroke Play
  • Competitors should be paired by Handicap Index
  • Assign tee-times in order of flight
  • Scramble Teams
  • Draw for Tee-times
  • Position before, between or after Stroke Play
    groups

  • If possible, give final instructions at one time
  • Appoint Lead Rules Official or committee to
    oversee play on course.
  • Keep track of Pace of Play

WEATHER
  • Suspension will occur if there is presence of
    dangerous weather conditions( i.e., lighting) or
    if Rules committee deems course unplayable
  • Handicap index/team handicap will stay in effect
  • May use nine hole scoring method (App. O)

  • Scoring Area
  • Well-defined identifiable
  • Players verify scores, report resolve any rules
    discrepancies and sign scorecards
  • Once player leaves scoring area, scorecard can no
    longer be signed or abridged in any manner.
  • Send scorecards to posting
  • Stroke Play - Low Gross Low Net winners in each
    flight
  • Refer to App. P for scoring sample
  • Scramble Division NET competition only
  • Settling Ties
  • USGA Rules of Golf Appendix 1
  • Keep a file of all records, including scorecards,
    for at least (3) three months following the EWGA
