5Present technologies
- We love 802.11
- We look forward to 802.15.4 / ZigBee
- We see areas for Bluetooth
- Today we use proprietary technologies and are
successful but not happy with all applications - Do standards cover everything? No that is why I
am here - We have applications with RF performance needs
beyond present level

8Tests
- We have done extensively testing on RF
technologies - Several narrowband and several frequencies
- Several WLANs
- 802.15.4
- nanoNET
- Have performed the tests in various environments
- Industrial, commercial and residential
- Internally and externally
- Covered most application environments
9Tests
- Tested different antenna types and placements
- Over 5000 transmission tests build our experience
- Some of you may know that we have established a
Communication Technology Centre

13Test headlines
- Existing technologies function very satisfactory
for many applications - There is clearly potential in linear FM as a
spread spectrum technology - Our tests show that performance is on the edge
for high end applications with existing
standard based technologies
14What do Danfoss look for?
- Higher range
- Longer battery life / lower power consumption
- Higher robustness against multipath fading
- Coexistence with WLAN and Bluetooth
15Summary
- Great existing standards
- We have applications that need more range and
robustness - We believe there are technologies that can fulfil
the need - We invite 802.15 to explore the opportunities
