Sports Highlights Semester 2

• Canoe Intervarsitys - Liffey Dublin
• Well done to the CIT Canoe Club who competed in
  the Intervarsitys hosted by UCD last month.
  Notable performances from all members.
  Congratulations to Fiona Shanahan who finished in
  1st place in the Womens 4km
• Athletic Indoor Championships - Nenagh
• Congratulations to Pawel Hazler who competed in
  the shot putt at the IUAA Indoors throwing 12.40
  bringing home Silver for CIT.
• Karate Intervarsitys - Galway
• Well done to the following Karate Club members
• Kevin O Regan 2nd place Individual Kumite
  Category
• Robert Troy 1st Place Senior Black Belt
  Kumite
• Rowing Newry, Co Down
• CIT Sports Bursary Recipient Mark O Donovan had a
  trial for the U23 Irish Rowing Team. Mark is
  currently ranked top at U23s and will be
  completing further trials in April before
  selection is made.

• The Mountainbiking Club took to the hills and
  climbed Croagh Patrick on February 17th before
  the adrenalin rushing decent. No injuries and a
  good day was had by all!
• The Surf Club took part in the Intervarsitys in
  Lahinch last weekend. Emer Barry won the
  expression category by completing a hand stand
  while on her Surf Board!!!!
• The Rockclimbing Club travelled to Dublin last
  weekend to take part in the Irish Bouldering
  League. The club took 8 members to the
  competition . They train every Tuesday and Friday
  in the Mardyke Arena Climbing Wall.
• The Ladies Soccer Team were this morning
  coached by former Irish International Jason
  McAteer right here on CIT Pitches. The team
  entered Redfm Soccer Competition to secure a
  training session with Jason! Not a bad prize!

• Basketball Intervarsitys Belfast
• CIT Ladies Mens teams travelled to Belfast
  last week to compete in the 2009 Basketball
  Intervarsitys. The Mens Team were beaten by a
  strong University of Ulster, Jordanstown Team in
  the Quarter Final. Well done to the Ladies Team
  who beat the Garda College to secure a Plate
  Victory for CIT!
• Sigerson Cup - CIT
• Congratulations to the CIT Winning Sigerson Team
  who made history last Saturday by beating DIT
  1-15 to 1-10. As well as hosting the event CIT
  claimed the Cup with a superb performance from
  all involved.

• Congratulations to Paul Murphy who has been
  chosen to represent CIT and Ireland in the
  upcoming Students Riding Nations Cup in Belgium
