  • Your unused sick leave balance is lost if you
terminate employment before retirement unless you
have at least 20 years of WRS creditable service.
The amount of sick leave that you have
accumulated will be converted at your highest
rate of pay. This can then be used to pay for
health insurance premiums in the State of WI
Group Health Insurance program after you have
    applied for an annuity.
  • If you terminate employment and return to a
permanent position within 5 years (3 years for
terminations prior to 7/5/1998), your sick leave
    will be restored.
  • If laid off, you may use your sick leave credits
to pay for State Group Health Insurance for up to
    5 years.
  • At retirement, the value of accumulated sick
leave credits may be converted to pay for your
    State Group health Insurance.
