Practical Advice on running an Extensive
Reading Program

• Maximize Learner Involvement (ownership)
• Use Reader Interview Technique (T-S and S-S
  conferences).
• Read aloud to the class.
• Encourage Students Presentations.
• Integrate ER with writing.
• Use Audio material with ER program.
• Avoid the use of tests, but monitor ER using,
  e.g. a card file system. Discourage Over-use of
  Dictionaries.
• Maintain the entertainment (e.g. Have students
  watch movies/plays/videos/CD based on ER books)
