Adult Children
  • The bottom line You have not arrived at
maturity until you can accept your parents the
way they are (not excusing their sin), and you
will reap the results of your maturity or
    immaturity with your children.
  • Our parents, even bad parents, deserve at least a
cordial response, even when theyre obstinate,
    selfish, manipulative, immoral or unkind.

10
Unqualified Commandment
  • The commandment is not qualified. It does not
    mean
  • Honor only if the person is perceived as
    deserving.
  • Only if the person always reciprocates.
  • Only if it is pleasing to you to do so.
  • Only if you get a compliment for doing so.
  • Only if it feels right.
  • Only if other people also do so.
