Violence in the Cosmos
"Modern astronomers are learning more about the
motions they observe and uncovering some
astonishing examples of chaotic behavior in the
heavens. Nonetheless, the long term stability of
the solar system remains a perplexing, unsolved
issue. (Ivars Peterson. 1993. Newton's Clock

God Proclaims His LoveDesign of the
EarthFormation of the Moon
  • Established the Earths current axial tilt of
23.5º, which is ideal for maintaining optimal
    temperatures on the Earth

  • Slowed the Earths rotation rate to 24 hours

22
God Proclaims His LoveDesign of the Earth
  • Established a unique continental crust, which
allows for recycling of minerals through tectonic
    activity

God Proclaims His LoveDesign of Our

  • if stronger electromagnetic storms would be too
    severe
  • if weaker ozone shield and life on land would be
inadequately protected from stellar and solar

  • Required for fixation of nitrogen from the
    atmosphere
  • If too high frequency there would be too many
    fires for lifes existence

Reliability of the Genesis Creation Account
  • 1. Creation of the universe, Solar System, and
    Earth (Genesis 11)

God Proclaims His LoveCreation of Humans
29
What is the Purpose of Human Life?
  • When asked what was the greatest commandment,
Jesus said, You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and
with all your mind.' This is the great and
foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'you
shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these
two commandments depend the whole Law and the
    Prophets." (Matthew 2237-40)

30
Why Does God Want Us to Choose to Love Him and
Our Neighbors?
  • Parable of the banquet
  • Then the master told his servant, Go out to the
roads and country lanes and make them come in, so
that my house will be full. (Luke 1423)

31
God is a God of order, not confusion
  • Demonstrated through the physical laws of the
    universe
  • God ties the reliability of the physical laws of
the universe to the reliability of His promises
    (Jeremiah 3135-36)

32
The Physical Laws of the Universe Tell of Gods
Righteousness and Judgment
  • And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for
God Himself is judge. Selah (Psalms 506)
  • The heavens proclaim His righteousness, and all
the peoples see His glory. (Psalms 976)

33
The Eternal Nature of Our Souls Is Revealed to
Each Person
  • He has made everything beautiful in its time. He
has also set eternity in the hearts of men
    (Ecclesiastes 311)

34
The Problem - SIN
  • Everyone has turned away, they have together
become corrupt there is no one who does good,
    not even one. (Psalms 533)
  • All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags
    (Isaiah 646)
  • for all have sinned and fall short of the glory
    of God (Romans 323)

35
The Solution - Jesus Christ
  • God took on the form of a man (Jesus) to become
the Messiah - the promised One who would take
    away the sin of mankind

36
How Do We Know Jesus Is the Messiah?
  • Fulfilled Prophecy
  • Ancestry (6)
  • Birth - date/place/circumstances (7)
  • Ministry (24)
  • Death by crucifixion (24)
  • Resurrection and present day ministry (6)

37
Why Must Jesus Christ Be the Creator of the
Universe?
The New Testament is the only religious work to
describe
  • a God who is transcendent to both time (2 Timothy
    19, Titus 12, Jude 125) and space (1 Kings
    827, Job 3723)
  • the creation of the universe from extra
    dimensions (Hebrews 113)

38
How Do We Reestablish Our Relationship With a
Holy God?
  • Accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord
    and Savior
  • Repent of your former life and follow Him as He
leads you through the Holy Spirit

39
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden,
and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you,
and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in
heart and you shall find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.
(Matthew 1128-30)
The Promises
40
The PromisesThose who hope in the LORD will
renew their strength. They will soar on wings
like eaglesthey will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.(Isaiah 4031)
41
Whoever drinks the water I give him will never
thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become
in him a spring of water welling up to eternal
life. (John 414)
