• The remover of obstacles with an elephants
  strength
• His pot belly holds the entire universe
• He broke off his own highly-valued tusk to write
  the Mahabarata, a Hindu holy text
• His appearance is highly indicative of what it is
  to be Hindu he is symbolic of all that is
  important to the Hindu faithful

Trimurti Shiva

• The triad of great Hindu gods proceeded from the
  world-egg deposited by the supreme First Cause
  Brahma, the Creator Vishnu, the Preserver and
  Shiva, the Destroyer.
• Shiva exists as the shivling, formless Ganges
  creator.
• As destroyer he is dark and terrible, appearing
  as a naked ascetic accompanied by hideous demons,
  encircled with serpents and necklaces of skulls.
• As auspicious reproductive power, he is
  worshipped as the Linga, or phallus.
