Impact of Additional SRO

• In the 2008-2009 school year the Derby Police
  Department increased the total of SROs to three
• Two were assigned to the High School
• One was assigned to the middle school

Impact of Additional SRO

• The additional SRO at the High School allowed for
  enhanced detection of criminal activity,
  disruptive behavior and more student and parent
  contacts
• Interaction with school staff and administrators
  was also enhanced

• Student contacts at the High School and Middle
  School increased by 71
• Parental contacts increased by 39
• Staff Contacts increased by 25

• Conflict resolutions increased by 66
• Criminal cases reported increased by 12 at the
  High school
• Arrests increased by 67 at the High School

Adopt A School Program

• In partnership with the Derby School District El
  Paso Elementary was selected as the pilot for
  this new program

Adopt a School

• This is not an SRO program
• The officer assigned will be a beat officer
