Step 5 Obtain a Nomination
  • Nominations are due to West Point from each
    Congressional Office no later than 31 January
  • Soldiers can receive a nomination at any time
    through their commanders endorsement

Soldier Admissions Strategy
  • Apply to all available nomination sources.
  • Practice for the SAT and/or ACT.
  • Practice for the Physical Aptitude Exam.
  • Complete the DODMERB medical exam ASAP.
  • Be aggressive and professional in completing
    application requirements.
  • Find out all you can about West Point from
    publications and graduates.
  • Make the decision that is right for you!

Key USMAPS Facts
  • Soldiers apply directly to West Point. All
    soldiers not directly admitted are automatically
    considered for the Prep School.
  • USMAPS counts as time in service and soldiers are
    paid their current grade.
  • NEW - Soldiers must have enough time on
    enlistment to complete 13 months past USMAPS
    graduation (if not must extend).
  • Soldiers selected for Prep School counts toward
    unit retention goals.
