  • In Chinese Opera, each style of facial make-up
    tells the audience something about the
    personality of the character wearing it.
    Different colors mean different things.
  • When Chinese opera first began 700 years ago,
    masks were worn. Later, the designs were painted
    onto the face, a detailed practice that takes
    several hours.
