Purpose of FSG

• To foster a sense of belonging to the unit and
  community
• Provide a vehicle for families to develop
  friendships
• Provide information, referrals, and support

Rear Detachment (RD)

Purpose of Rear Detachment

• To perform official duties for the deployed or
  absent unit
• Provide communications and assistance through the
  FSG to the deployed soldiers family

RD Support To Families

• Assist family members in resolution of problems
• Be the focal point for mutual information
  dissemination
• Interface with community support agencies
• Serve as communications link between the soldier
  and family
