Title: A Piece of Thailand

1
They will always consider that at any time Jesus
Christ may come to the Hospital through some poor
sick person...
2
for whom they will always try to have some bed
ready in the ward to receive such person ...
3
and when she/he comes they will receive that
person with affection, compassion and attention,
4
She/He will be invited to sit down on a chair
they will also have prepared, so that she/he may
rest and recover
5
Theyll remove her/his clothes with gentleness,
so that she/he may not feel embarassed
6
...and, if it is winter time, or the sick person
needs it, the bed will be heated
7
and theyll put her/him in her/his bed with much
care and tenderness
8
and theyll ask the patient when did she had
some food for the last time, and, if itll take
long to give the one that the Hospital offers
9
theyll give her/him a cup of soup or some other
thing that could not harm him/her
10
and theyll do the same with the medicines, if
it would take time for the doctor to come, or the
sick person was in a dangerous situation
11
and theyll call the doctor on duty so that he
may come to visit the patient and to order the
appropiate medicines or cares, which the
Sistersll provide as soon as possible
12
This is an ancient text about the nurses,
included in the Constitutions of the Sisters of
Charity of St. Anne, year 1824
From it we want to highlight to attitudes to
keep ready and gentleness
13
To keep ready
Charity is timeless
It means availability for a welcoming that
cannot be improvised neither physically nor
psychologically Willingness and readiness in the
welcoming
14
Gentleness
That means quality in welcoming, delicacy and
tenderness in the attention, detail in the
relationship with the weak or sick person
15
So this is Our Style
  • Sensitivity
  • Ability for welcoming and for reaching out the
people and being able to help them
  • Commitment without showing off ,
  • Ability for cooperation and team-work
  • Generosity in the service
