  • The javelin was introduced to the Olympics with
    nine other sports. Previously the only sport was
    chariot racings.
  • The Javelin started about two thousand five
    hundred years ago.
  • Many people were injured because it is a very
    sharp weapon.

  • People say that the javelin started in Ancient
    Greece up at Mount Olympus to impress Zeus the
    mighty god of thunder.

Why was it called the javelin
Well in old times it was not called javelin it
was called javelot which came from the Celtic
language.

  • The men's world record in the javelin throw is
    held by Jan Zelezny of the Czech Republic who

    threw the javelin 72.28 meters in 2008.
