The Distance Formula
The distance, d, between any points with
coordinates (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) can be found by
using the distance formula.

  • Parallel lines are two lines in a plane that
    never intersect or meet.
  • The parallel symbol is ll. For example, AB ll CD
    indicates that line AB is parallel to line CD.

Practice
  • Pair students up with their neighbors
  • Give each pair 3 sheets of graph paper, and ask
    them to plot a triangle on each one (label all
    axes and points)
  • Student may use rulers to draw their triangles,
    but not to find the perimeters or midpoints
  • Have them switch graphs with another group, and
    find the perimeter and midpoints of each of the
    three triangles

    begin when they finish with the practice
    assignment. Have them finish it for homework
