What is a verb?

• A verb is an ACTION word
• It is something that you DO
• Quickly ? Brainstorm some verbs in English.
• Run, walk, speak, clean, teach, show, eat, study,
  skip, fly, car, sleep, run, drink

ANATOMY OF A VERB

The verb stem is always the same in regular verbs
The verb ending tells you what form the verb is
in. Sometimes it indicates the subject.

The Infinitive

• When a verb is in the whole form it is called
  the infinitive
• When the verb is in the infinitive, it means to
  do something
• To walk, to run, to eat
• When you CONJUGATE a verb, it changes form to
  indicate WHO is doing the action.

• In Spanish, ALL verbs end in either AR, IR, or
  ER
• Cantar, Vivir, Correr

• To Conjugate means to change form
• You need to change form to indicate who is doing
  the action.
• I run. John runs.
