Current Project Status
Vendor Contract Signed
  • Signed Statement of Work with Capgemini -
    02-Sep-2005
  • Initiated Implementation Phase -
    06-Sep-2005
  • 39 week project Target July 2006
  • On schedule/On budget Design underway to
    confirm scope
  • Define scope and deployment approach
    02-Nov-2005
  • Need support to balance IEEE Major
Actions/projects to ensure focus on BMS tasks and
    deliverables
  • Arthur Winston attended MC meeting on 8
September where Sally Waselik provided a
comprehensive status report on the project to
upgrade IEEE's primary business systems (BMS)
  • Key points he will highlighting in a communique
    shortly
  • As you are aware, this is a high impact project
and is critically important to the future of the
IEEE Over 50 staff will be involved in this
effort, and there is considerable work that has
to be done by these staff members to ensure the
completion of the BMS project on time
  • He wants to encourage you a) to be sensitive to
the possibility that there could be some delays
in completion of Major Actions currently ongoing
as staff involved in BMS balance their
priorities, and b) to temporarily refrain from
requesting staff involved in the BMS work to take
    on any significant new project.

Current Project Status
Impact of Oracle buying Siebel
  • On 19-Sep-2005 Oracle announced their purchase
    of Siebel
  • IEEE has had a long standing relationship with
Oracle for our database system and backend
    financial infrastructure
  • Siebel is the leader in customer relationship
management (CRM) best practices and software
    solutions
  • We have been working with them for over 7 months
to outline plans for our new Business Management
System that is scheduled to launch in mid 2006.

Current Project Status
Impact of Oracle buying Siebel
  • With Oracle providing our backend infrastructure
and Siebel the front-end customer interface
working together as one company, we expect the
interoperability of our entire system will be
    preserved and strengthened
  • I have received a letter from Siebel CEO George
    T. Sheehan assuring IEEE that Oracle and Siebel
are committed to supporting and protecting our
    investment in Seibel applications
  • We will work closely with them to understand
their roadmap - I am confident they will continue
to provide us with the best overall technology
    solutions.

Financial View
Impact of Oracle buying Siebel
  • Currently tracking on Budget
  • Calibration point is built into our Statement of
Work (SOW) towards end of Design Phase
    (02-Nov-2005) to potentially reduce the
Implementation Hours Estimate, confirm scope and
    deployment approach
  • Some challenges Training appears we can
    mitigate
