Human/Environment Interaction

Human/Environment Interaction
  • When people adapt to their environment they do
    not change it.
  • They change their lives to fit the environment.
  • Peoples choice of food, shelter, clothing,
sports is impacted by their environment.

    that keep them cool.

10
Human/Environment Interaction
  • How did the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic in this
    picture adapt to their environment?

Human/Environment Interaction
  • The Inuit designed their clothes for protection
from the harsh cold climate. Traditional clothes
are made of caribou or sealskin and include
    parka, pants, mittens, and boots.

12
Human/Environment Interaction
  • Examples
  • People also design their shelter depending on
    the environment they live in.

13
Human/Environment Interaction
  • In dry desert climates, builders of homes make
windows small to keep out the sunlight.

14
Human/Environment Interaction
  • People who live in areas with lots of trees may
build their houses out of logs.

15
Human/Environment Interaction
IGLOO

16
Human/Environment Interaction
  • These people had to adapt to environment with
lots of snow and used snow to build their homes.

17
Human/Environment Interaction
  • Write down or draw at least one additional
example of people adapting to their environment.
  • Hint food, sports.

18
Human/Environment Interaction
  • When people modify their environment they change
    it.
  • They build roads, bridges, canals, dams,
irrigation systems, take natural resources out of
    the Earth, etc.

19
Human/Environment Interaction
  • Examples
  • The people of New Orleans built levees to control
the flooding of the Mississippi River.
