Title: got grammar?

1
got grammar?
  • A fun look at how grammar can affect written
    communication.

2
Why do we need to use correct grammar when
communicating with others?
  • to give important facts or details
  • to keep to the point instead of rambling
  • to sound like the educated people we are
  • to gain respect and earn trust

3
And in other news...
  • There are many fun careers that await you in the
future that will require you to communicate
    effectively in writing and speaking.
  • We will look at sports casting and critiquing.

4
And the crowd goes wild!
  • Sports casters give play-by-plays, recap games,
and write articles for newspapers and magazines.
  • Using correct grammar helps them to keep to the
point and give the most important details of a
    game.
  • Would you want to listen to or read something by
    someone who cant tell you
  • who
  • what
  • when
  • where
  • why?

5
I give it two thumbs up.
  • Critics write reviews or broadcast on news and
    radio programs.
  • They get to attend
  • concerts
  • plays
  • dance performances
  • movies.
  • They need to provide important information in a
brief way so that others may decide for
    themselves to attend certain performances.
  • They can be nasty or nice!

6
So what do I have to do?
  • You get to have lots of fun pretending to be a
    critic or sportscaster!
  • You have three important tasks
  • create a Power Point presentation,
  • create a poster/flier advertising your event,
  • create a webpage so that others can see what else
    you have reviewed.
  • Lets get it on!

7
Power Point
  • After choosing your event and writing your
review, you get to create a Power Point
    presentation.
  • This is like on TV when the critic is talking but
you are watching clips from the event!
  • In your presentation you will identify the
different parts of speech to show your grammar
    greatness!

8
Publisher
  • You have to advertise to get someone interested
in coming to your event, right?
  • Now that you know what the most important details
of your event are, you can make a poster or flier
    telling the most important details.
  • Focus on your prepositions and make it attractive!

9
Web Page
  • Important critics always get the chance to review
    lots of events.
  • Show your stuff! Let others see what other
    work youve done.
  • Give little bites or teasers about other
    events.

10
Is there an audition for this?
  • The cool thing is you already know the basics
  • nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs
  • prepositions
  • punctuation
  • Now you get to choose something fun and tell all
    about it!
  • You also get on-the-job training in technology,
    and
  • YOU GET TO BE CREATIVE!
  • Can you smell what Mrs. Moss is cookin?

11
Sign me up!
  • Get ready for fun.
  • Get ready for laughs.
  • Let your imagination run wild!
  • Caaaaaaan yoooooooouuuuu diiig iiiiiiiit?
