Expanding/Reducing Fractions

- if we multiply the top and bottom of a fraction

by the same number, we get an equivalent fraction - to reduce, divide the top and bottom by the same

number

Example 14.1

- Expand the fraction ¾ so that the denominator is

24.

Fractions to decimals

- To write a fraction of a whole number as a

decimal number, divide the numerator by the

denominator
