Title: What Did Jesus Say About Salvation?

What Did Jesus Say About Salvation?
"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I
will also confess before My Father who is in
heaven. (Matthew 1032)
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that
hear the word of God, and keep it. (Luke 1128)

sake but he that endures to the end shall be
saved. (Matt 1022)
I tell you, no but unless you repent you will
all likewise perish. (Luke 133)
Therefore I said to you that you will die in your
sins for if you do not believe that I am He, you
will die in your sins." (John 824)

Jesus Preaches To The Great Multitudes Warnings
And Encouragements Luke 121 12
In the mean time, when there were gathered
together an innumerable multitude of people,
insomuch that they trode one upon another, he
began to say unto his disciples first of all,
Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which
is hypocrisy.
www.wordandsword.com
4
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be
revealed neither hid, that shall not be known.
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness
shall be heard in the light and that which ye
have spoken in the ear in closets shall be
proclaimed upon the housetops. And I say unto you
my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the
body, and after that have no more that they can
do.
5
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear Fear
him, which after he hath killed hath power to
cast into hell yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and
not one of them is forgotten before God? But even
the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear not therefore ye are of more value than
many sparrows.
6
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me
before men, him shall the Son of man also confess
before the angels of God But he that denieth me
before men shall be denied before the angels of
God. And whosoever shall speak a word against the
Son of man, it shall be forgiven him but unto
him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it
shall not be forgiven.
7
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and
unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought
how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye
shall say For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in
the same hour what ye ought to say. (Luke
121-12 KJV)

Parable Of The Rich Fool Luke 1213 - 21
And one of the company said unto him, Master,
speak to my brother, that he divide the
inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man,
who made me a judge or a divider over you? And he
said unto them, Take heed, and beware of
covetousness for a man's life consisteth not in
the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
www.wordandsword.com
9
And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The
ground of a certain rich man brought forth
plentifully And he thought within himself,
saying, What shall I do, because I have no room
where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will
I do I will pull down my barns, and build
greater and there will I bestow all my fruits
and my goods.
10
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much
goods laid up for many years take thine ease,
eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him,
Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required
of thee then whose shall those things be, which
thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up
treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
(Luke 1213-21 KJV)
11
Lessons On Attitudes Toward Material Things Luke
1222 - 34
Consider the ravens for they neither sow nor
reap which neither have storehouse nor barn and
God feedeth them how much more are ye better
than the fowls? And which of you with taking
thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye
then be not able to do that thing which is least,
why take ye thought for the rest?
www.wordandsword.com
12
Consider the lilies how they grow they toil not,
they spin not and yet I say unto you, that
Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one
of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which
is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast
into the oven how much more will he clothe you,
O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye
shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye
of doubtful mind.
13
For all these things do the nations of the world
seek after and your Father knoweth that ye have
need of these things. But rather seek ye the
kingdom of God and all these things shall be
added unto you. Fear not, little flock for it is
your Father's good pleasure to give you the
kingdom.
14
Sell that ye have, and give alms provide
yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in
the heavens that faileth not, where no thief
approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where
your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
(Luke 1224-34 KJV)
15
Parables About the Wailing Servants And The Wise
Steward Luke 1235 - 48
Let your loins be girded about, and your lights
burning And ye yourselves like unto men that
wait for their lord, when he will return from the
wedding that when he cometh and knocketh, they
may open unto him immediately.
www.wordandsword.com
16
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he
cometh shall find watching verily I say unto
you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to
sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve
them. And if he shall come in the second watch,
or come in the third watch, and find them so,
blessed are those servants.
17
And this know, that if the goodman of the house
had known what hour the thief would come, he
would have watched, and not have suffered his
house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready
also for the Son of man cometh at an hour when
ye think not.
18
Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou
this parable unto us, or even to all? And the
Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise
steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his
household, to give them their portion of meat in
due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his
lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a
truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler
over all that he hath.
19
But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord
delayeth his coming and shall begin to beat the
menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink,
and to be drunken The lord of that servant will
come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at
an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in
sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the
unbelievers.
20
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and
prepared not himself, neither did according to
his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But
he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of
stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For
unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be
much required and to whom men have committed
much, of him they will ask the more. (Luke
1235-48 KJV)
21
Jesus Said He came To Bring Division, Not
Peace The Signs Of The Times Luke 1249 - 59
I am come to send fire on the earth and what
will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a
baptism to be baptized with and how am I
straitened till it be accomplished!
www.wordandsword.com
22
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth?
I tell you, Nay but rather division For from
henceforth there shall be five in one house
divided, three against two, and two against
three. The father shall be divided against the
son, and the son against the father the mother
against the daughter, and the daughter against
the mother the mother in law against her
daughter in law, and the daughter in law against
her mother in law.
23
And he said also to the people, When ye see a
cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say,
There cometh a shower and so it is. And when ye
see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be
heat and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye
can discern the face of the sky and of the earth
but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what
is right?
24
When thou goest with thine adversary to the
magistrate, as thou art in the way, give
diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him
lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge
deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast
thee into prison. I tell thee, thou shalt not
depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last
mite. (Luke 1249-59 KJV)
25
The necessity of repentance for all parable of
the fig tree. (Luke 131-9)
There were present at that season some who told
Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had
mingled with their sacrifices.
www.wordandsword.com
26
And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you
suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners
than all other Galileans, because they suffered
such things? I tell you, no but unless you
repent you will all likewise perish. Or those
eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and
killed them, do you think that they were worse
sinners than all other men who dwelt in
Jerusalem?
www.wordandsword.com
27
I tell you, no but unless you repent you will
all likewise perish." He also spoke this parable
"A certain man had a fig tree planted in his
vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and
found none. Then he said to the keeper of his
vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come
seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none.
www.wordandsword.com
28
Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard,
'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit
on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down why
does it use up the ground?' But he answered and
said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also,
until I dig around it and fertilize it. And if it
bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can
cut it down.' " (Luke 131-9 NKJV)

Jesus heals a crippled woman on the
Sabbath repetition of the parables of the
mustard seed and of the leaven (Luke 1310-21).
Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on
the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who
had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was
bent over and could in no way raise herself up.
www.wordandsword.com
30
But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and
said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your
infirmity." And He laid His hands on her, and
immediately she was made straight, and glorified
God. But the ruler of the synagogue answered with
indignation, because Jesus had healed on the
Sabbath and he said to the crowd, "There are six
days on which men ought to work therefore come
and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath
day."
www.wordandsword.com
31
The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite!
Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his
ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to
water it? So ought not this woman, being a
daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound--think
of it--for eighteen years, be loosed from this
bond on the Sabbath?" And when He said these
things, all His adversaries were put to shame
and all the multitude rejoiced for all the
glorious things that were done by Him.
www.wordandsword.com
32
Then He said, "What is the kingdom of God like?
And to what shall I compare it? It is like a
mustard seed, which a man took and put in his
garden and it grew and became a large tree, and
the birds of the air nested in its branches." And
again He said, "To what shall I liken the kingdom
of God? It is like leaven, which a woman took and
hid in three measures of meal till it was all
leavened." (Luke 1312-21 NKJV)

Jesus teaches as He journeys toward Jerusalem He
is warned about Herod Antipas (Luke 1322-35)
And He went through the cities and villages,
teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
www.wordandsword.com
34
Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who
are saved?" And He said to them, "Strive to enter
through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you,
will seek to enter and will not be able. When
once the Master of the house has risen up and
shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and
knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for
us,' and He will answer and say to you, 'I do not
know you, where you are from,' then you will
begin to say,
www.wordandsword.com
35
'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You
taught in our streets.' But He will say, 'I tell
you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart
from Me, all you workers of iniquity.' There will
be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see
Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets
in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.
They will come from the east and the west, from
the north and the south, and sit down in the
kingdom of God.
www.wordandsword.com
36
And indeed there are last who will be first, and
there are first who will be last." On that very
day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, "Get out
and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill
You." And He said to them, "Go, tell that fox,
'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures
today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be
perfected.' Nevertheless I must journey today,
tomorrow, and the day following for it cannot be
that a prophet should perish outside of
Jerusalem.
www.wordandsword.com
37
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the
prophets and stones those who are sent to her!
How often I wanted to gather your children
together, as a hen gathers her brood under her
wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house
is left to you desolate and assuredly, I say to
you, you shall not see Me until the time comes
when you say, 'BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE
NAME OF THE LORD!' " (Luke 1323-35 NKJV)

Feast of Dedication (by now it is winter about
three months before His death) (John 10 22-39).
Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem,
and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the
temple, in Solomon's porch. Then the Jews
surrounded Him and said to Him, "How long do You
keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us
plainly."
www.wordandsword.com
39
Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not
believe. The works that I do in My Father's name,
they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe,
because you are not of My sheep, as I said to
you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and
they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and
they shall never perish neither shall anyone
snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has
given them to Me, is greater than all and no one
is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I
and My Father are one."
www.wordandsword.com
40
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have
shown you from My Father. For which of those
works do you stone Me?" The Jews answered Him,
saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but
for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make
Yourself God."
www.wordandsword.com
41
Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your
law, 'I SAID, "YOU ARE GODS" '? If He called them
gods, to whom the word of God came (and the
Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him
whom the Father sanctified and sent into the
world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I
am the Son of God'?
www.wordandsword.com
42
If I do not do the works of My Father, do not
believe Me but if I do, though you do not
believe Me, believe the works, that you may know
and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in
Him." Therefore they sought again to seize Him,
but He escaped out of their hand. (John 1025-39
NKJV)

Jesus withdraws to Perea (John 1040-42)
And went away again beyond Jordan into the place
where John at first baptized and there he abode.
And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no
miracle but all things that John spake of this
man were true. And many believed on him there.
(John 1040-42 KJV)

44
Jesus meets with a ruler of the Pharisees on a
Sabbath day He is being watched to see if He
will heal a man He does so and then defends His
action (Luke 141-6)
And it came to pass, as he went into the house of
one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the
sabbath day, that they watched him.
www.wordandsword.com
45
And, behold, there was a certain man before him
which had the dropsy. And Jesus answering spake
unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it
lawful to heal on the sabbath day? And they held
their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and
let him go And answered them, saying, Which of
you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit,
and will not straightway pull him out on the
sabbath day? And they could not answer him again
to these things. (Luke 142-6 KJV)

46
He rebukes the Pharisees for trying to sit in
chief seats at feasts (Luke 147-14)
So He told a parable to those who were invited,
when He noted how they chose the best places,
saying to them
www.wordandsword.com
47
"When you are invited by anyone to a wedding
feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest
one more honorable than you be invited by him
and he who invited you and him come and say to
you, 'Give place to this man,' and then you begin
with shame to take the lowest place. But when you
are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place,
so that when he who invited you comes he may say
to you, 'Friend, go up higher.'
www.wordandsword.com
48
Then you will have glory in the presence of those
who sit at the table with you. For whoever exalts
himself will be humbled, and he who humbles
himself will be exalted." Then He also said to
him who invited Him, "When you give a dinner or a
supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers,
your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they
also invite you back, and you be repaid.
www.wordandsword.com
49
But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the
maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be
blessed, because they cannot repay you for you
shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just."
(Luke 147-14 NKJV)

Parable of wedding feast (Luke 1415-24).
Now when one of those who sat at the table with
Him heard these things, he said to Him, "Blessed
is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!"
Then He said to him, "A certain man gave a great
supper and invited many, and sent his servant at
supper time to say to those who were invited,
'Come, for all things are now ready.
www.wordandsword.com
51
But they all with one accord began to make
excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a
piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask
you to have me excused.' And another said, 'I
have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to
test them. I ask you to have me excused.' Still
another said, 'I have married a wife, and
therefore I cannot come.'
www.wordandsword.com
52
So that servant came and reported these things to
his master. Then the master of the house, being
angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into
the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in
here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the
blind.'
www.wordandsword.com
53
And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you
commanded, and still there is room.' Then the
master said to the servant, 'Go out into the
highways and hedges, and compel them to come in,
that my house may be filled. For I say to you
that none of those men who were invited shall
taste my supper.' " (Luke 1415-24 NKJV)
www.wordandsword.com
54
Jesus warns the multitudes about the cost of
discipleship (Luke 1425-35).
Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned
and said to them, "If anyone comes to Me and does
not hate his father and mother, wife and
children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own
life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever
does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot
be My disciple.
www.wordandsword.com
55
For which of you, intending to build a tower,
does not sit down first and count the cost,
whether he has enough to finish it-- lest, after
he has laid the foundation, and is not able to
finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying,
'This man began to build and was not able to
finish.' Or what king, going to make war against
another king, does not sit down first and
consider whether he is able with ten thousand to
meet him who comes against him with twenty
thousand?
www.wordandsword.com
56
Or else, while the other is still a great way
off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of
peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not
forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
"Salt is good but if the salt has lost its
flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is neither
fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men
throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him
hear!" (Luke 1425-35 NKJV)

57
Three great parables reproving the Pharisees for
their attitude toward sinners. The lost sheep
(Luke 151-7)
Then drew near unto him all the publicans and
sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and
scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth
sinners, and eateth with them.
www.wordandsword.com
58
And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What
man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose
one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine
in the wilderness, and go after that which is
lost, until he find it? And when he hath found
it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And
when he cometh home, he calleth together his
friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice
with me for I have found my sheep which was
lost.
www.wordandsword.com
59
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in
heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than
over ninety and nine just persons, which need no
repentance. (Luke 151-7 KJV)
www.wordandsword.com
60
The lost coin (Luke 158-10)
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if
she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and
sweep the house, and seek diligently till she
find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth
her friends and her neighbours together, saying,
Rejoice with me for I have found the piece which
I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is
joy in the presence of the angels of God over one
sinner that repenteth. (Luke 158-10 KJV)
www.wordandsword.com
61
The lost boy (Luke 1511-32).
And he said, A certain man had two sons And the
younger of them said to his father, Father, give
me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And
he divided unto them his living. And not many
days after the younger son gathered all together,
and took his journey into a far country, and
there wasted his substance with riotous living.
And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty
famine in that land and he began to be in want.
www.wordandsword.com
62
And he went and joined himself to a citizen of
that country and he sent him into his fields to
feed swine. And he would fain have filled his
belly with the husks that the swine did eat and
no man gave unto him. And when he came to
himself, he said, How many hired servants of my
father's have bread enough and to spare, and I
perish with hunger!
www.wordandsword.com
63
I will arise and go to my father, and will say
unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven,
and before thee, And am no more worthy to be
called thy son make me as one of thy hired
servants. And he arose, and came to his father.
But when he was yet a great way off, his father
saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on
his neck, and kissed him.
www.wordandsword.com
64
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned
against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more
worthy to be called thy son. But the father said
to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and
put it on him and put a ring on his hand, and
shoes on his feet And bring hither the fatted
calf, and kill it and let us eat, and be merry
For this my son was dead, and is alive again he
was lost, and is found. And they began to be
merry.
www.wordandsword.com
65
Now his elder son was in the field and as he
came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick
and dancing. And he called one of the servants,
and asked what these things meant. And he said
unto him, Thy brother is come and thy father
hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath
received him safe and sound. And he was angry,
and would not go in therefore came his father
out, and intreated him.
www.wordandsword.com
66
And he answering said to his father, Lo, these
many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed
I at any time thy commandment and yet thou never
gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my
friends But as soon as this thy son was come,
which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou
hast killed for him the fatted calf.
www.wordandsword.com
67
And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me,
and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we
should make merry, and be glad for this thy
brother was dead, and is alive again and was
lost, and is found. (Luke 1511-32 KJV)
