Our Kids are Worth the EFFORT!
  • Why are we not the best educational system in the
    world?
  • Must have a nation of thinkers and doers!
  • Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic
  • You as teachers and educators are able to get
back to the roots of our educational system.
Teaching and Facilitating our students to think
    and do, not just recall!

7
Teachers
  1. You are the best and brightest
  2. You will be able to do whatever you need to do to
prepare our kids for college and career
  3. You are better prepared than any other group in
our state and in our country
  4. You are so far ahead of teachers in other
    districts and states
  5. A teacher affects eternity he can never tell
    where his influence stops.--Henry Adams,
    American journalist, historian, academic and
    novelist

Preparation
  • Now-You can not wait
  • Use the time you have-30 minutes to an hour a
    week during your planning time
  • Reading-All of you are teachers but also
students-use some of the time you use for
recreational reading to read and learn about the
    CCSS.
  • Videos-Hunt Institute-Engage New York-

10
Technology
  • Embrace the use of technology in your classroom.
  • The assessments will be delivered through
    technology.
  • Students will have to know how to use technology
to perform well on the assessments.
  • In order to perform at their best, students on
these assessments must be comfortable with
    technology.

11
Students
  • Read
  • Write
  • Discuss
  • Think
  • DO
  • Stop Whining
  • Cultivate an expectation of challenges

12
AdministratorsPrincipals and Central Office
  • We must be students and learn what is the
difference between the old and the new
  • We must be willing to lead and take the pressure
off the classroom teachers when the push back
    comes from students and parents
  • We must be willing to educate the parents,
community, and students as to the new
    expectations that come with CCSS
  • WE must do what is best for the students! School
is for the students not the adults!

13
Change
  • I can not support change just for change sake!
  • I can not support change when it is not in the
    best interest of the students!
  • I can not support change when it keeps teachers
from teaching and students from learning!
  • I CAN and WILL support CCSS because it is in the
best interest of the students and teachers!
  • CCSS is also in the best interest of our
educational system, if our teachers and schools
are allowed to use it correctly!

14
Do it!
  • For Our Kids
  • For Our Community
  • For Our State
  • For Our Country
  • For Our World
  • Dont you want all of these to be better when you
leave than when you got here!
  • Thats a legacy that will never die!
