Proposed Giving to Other Worthy Causes
  • Funding Issues 
  • San Antonio NPG (Returning Heroes Home) raised
    the 5.8 mill to build the 12,500 sq ft bldg and
    grounds which opened in Dec 2008 donated it to
    the Army
  • Furniture, kitchen appliances and computers in
    the learning center all obtained through
    donations
  • NPG still working on 2.1 mill (have about half)
    to complete adjoining park and walkways
  • Army Support Activity (ASA) pays for basic staff
    (director, asst director) most of the rest of
    the staff are volunteers

  • Funding Issues (Cont)
  • Post covers bldg operation and maintenance costs
    bare bones
  • Programs have some basic ASA funding, but
    donations cover most of the need
  • Small donations used to provide gift cards,
    disposable cameras, baked goods, candy, snacks,
    pens, pencils, music, DVDs, diapers, formula,
    personal hygiene products for warriors and family
