• At the beginning of the movie, Andy is in
  relative darkness sitting in the car. This is the
  point where he is most down and out in terms of
  hope. He is about to kill his wife and her lover.
• As the movie moves on, the light becomes more and
  more prominent on Andy. Culminating in the final
  scene where he is reborn and the lightning
  flashes widely on him.
• The lighting gains momentum as the film goes
  along as a symbol of hope and freedom. Also, as a
  symbol for good and evil.
