Title: TERRORISM

1
TERRORISM
  • The Facts

2
DEFINITION
  • The use of violence against people or property to
force changes in societies or governments.

3
WHO
  • Terrorism is usually associated with Muslim Arab
men from the Middle East, but the truth is there
terrorist networks do not discriminate. They will
train anyone who agrees with them and shares in
their hatred. The terrorist networks are usually
led by wealthy, educated men. The recruits are
usually very poor, have no hope for the future,
and can be emotionally or mentally disturbed.

4
WHAT
  • Terrorists use many different forms of violence
to achieve their goal and force changes. The
    following are examples hostages, car/truck
bombs, suicide bombers, hijacking of planes,
    chemical/biological weapons (lethal gases,
    anthrax, smallpox, etc.).

5
WHY
  • Many terrorists believe they are freedom fighters
(for the have nots), fighting against the
imbalance of power in the world. They usually
attack those they believe are the haves. The
terrorists believe the haves are purposely
keeping their people and countries down.

6
WHERE
  • Many people believe that terrorism only happens
in the Middle East or in areas of discontent,
war, famine, or other problems. However,
terrorism is a world-wide problem. Acts of
terrorism can happen anywhere in the world like
the events on 9/11 or the subways in Great
    Britain and Spain.

7
WHEN
  • Terrorist acts or the threat of such action have
been in existence for millennia. Over the past
20 years, terrorists have committed extremely
violent acts for alleged political or religious
    reasons.
