Discipline Procedures
  • We believe discipline should be considered as
    opportunities for personal growth.
  • We believe that students should be responsible
for solving their own problems with adult
    guidance.
  • We believe that preserving and/or enhancing a
students self-respect and dignity is crucial to
    a successful disciplinary action.
  • We believe in natural consequences for the
    action.
  • We believe in a fluid clip chart system with
communication home daily in student planners.

Planners

Curriculum
  • All subject areas taught in Kindergarten are
aligned with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge
    and Skills).
  • Math is taught with hands on activities and
manipulatives, using Texas Go Math curriculum.
  • We use district adopted curriculum, supplemental
    materials and teacher created materials.

10
  • Please see the handout for correct letter
formation, the stages of writing, and the first
100 fry words (high frequency words/sight words)
  • Music, P.E., and Art are taught by teachers with
    specialized training in those areas.
  • Science, Social Studies and Computer Technology
are taught by the classroom teacher and all
    subject areas are integrated continually.

11
Targeted Instruction
  • Targeted instruction is a method of assessment
and instruction based on individual needs
  • Students will receive small group instruction to
fill academic gaps and enrich learning

12
Attendance
  • Good attendance is important for many reasons.
Your child receives the maximum benefit of
education by being in school every day, and
numerous studies show a strong link between
    academic performance and consistent attendance.
Because attendance is so critical for the quality
of your child's education, Texas has a Compulsory
    Attendance Law.

13
  • School district policy states, If a student
fails to attend school without excuse on 10 or
more days or parts of days within a six-month
period in the same school year, the District
shall file a complaint against the students
parent in a county, justice or municipal court
for an offense under Education Code 25.093.
  • Please be aware that vacations are NOT
    excused absences.

14
  • Attendance
  • If your child is absent send an email or note to
    myself and/or Heather Kenley kenleyh_at_ltisdschools.
    org

15
Requesting Work During Student Absence
  • When a student is absent, it is important that
the student takes the responsibility to see that
all projects, essays, research projects and other
assignments are completed and turned in to the
teacher. The work must be turned in at a time
    specified by teacher.
  • Makeup Requests For absences of three or more
days, makeup work may be obtained through the
office. Allow 24 hours notice for work to be
    collected.

16
Homework
  • Please read with your child at least ten minutes
daily and fill in their Reading Log
  • Spot Light Reader
  • Schoology webquests. Download Schoology and join.
    Access code H5S6S-H4H8H

17
Field Trips
  • Children must travel on the bus to and from the
    school.
  • Parents must pay separately when attending the
field trip, and because of space, will not be
able to ride the school bus.
  • If a parent is a chaperone, we ask that you do
    not bring siblings.
  • There will be a field trip chaperone form needed
for you to attend as a chaperone.
  • Make sure your child brings a disposable lunch.
  • Please pay a one time fee of 10 to cover the
cost of the field trips this year. Pay by
    October 1st.
  • Field trip locations are a surprise.

18

on the report card, it is the Level 3 that is the
goal and indicates end-of -year mastery for
    that concept or skill.
  • Criteria for performance Levels
  • Level score indicates performance for time frame
    of specified marking period
  • Goal is Level 3 for each marking period

on the report card for your child having Met
    Standard on Early Reading Assessment.

    between home and school.
