I. The Character of God
Biblical truth- God is holy, perfect, and just
therefore, He hates sin and cannot tolerate it
Bible verses- Ps. 54- For you are not a God
who delights in wickedness evil may not dwell
with you Ps 9215- there is no unrighteousness
in him Hab. 113- You are of purer eyes than
to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness
II. The Sinfulness of Man
Biblical truth- Man is a sinner by nature and
choice therefore, he deserves Gods wrath
Bible verses- Rm. 310 None is righteous, no,
not one Rm. 323 for all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God Eccl. 720 Surely
there is not a righteous man on earth who does
good and never sins. 1 Jn. 18 If we say we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves
III. The Sufficiency of Christ
Biblical truth- Jesus Christ became the perfect
sacrifice therefore, His death was sufficient
for our salvation
Bible verses- Rm. 324 justified by his grace
as a gift, through the redemption that is in
Christ Jesus 425 who was delivered up for our
trespasses and raised for our justification 56
For while we were still weak, at the right time
Christ died for the ungodly 81 There is
therefore now no condemnation for those who are
in Christ Jesus
IV. The Requirement of Faith
Biblical truth- God initiates and provides
salvation, but man must respond and receive it
therefore, faith is required
Bible verses- Rm 51- Therefore, since we have
been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ Rm. 109,10 if
you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved. For with the
heart one believes and is justified Gal. 316
yet we know that a person is not justified by
works of the law but through faith in Jesus
Christ Eph. 28 For by grace you have been
saved through faith.
V. The Necessity of Obedience
Biblical truth- Repentance changes the sinners
mind and heart therefore, he longs to obey God
Bible verses- Jn. 1421 Whoever has my
commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves
me. 1 Jn. 24 Whoever says I know him but
does not keep his commandments is a liar 1 Jn.
310 whoever does not practice righteousness is
not of God 1 Jn. 518 We know that everyone who
has been born of God does not keep on
sinning Titus 116 They profess to know God,
but they deny him by their works
