of the planet facing away from the sun is
    experiencing _________________.

in the ______________ and set in the
    _____________.

Earth Around Sun
  • Revolution Earth moves around the sun in an
elliptical orbit (in a CCW direction as seen from
    the north pole)
  • 1 Revolution 365.25 Days 1 Year (this is why
    we have a leap year!)

Reasons for Seasons
  • Two Reasons (and only 2 reasons)
  • 1. The tilt of Earths axis.
  • 2. How the sunlight hits Earth.
  • NOTE Seasons are NOT caused by Earths distance
from the sun! Earth is actually farthest away
from the sun in its orbit during summer!

  • Explanation - NOT DISTANCE FROM SUN but the
change in the angle of sunlight throughout the
year caused by the tilt of the axis.
