The Special Verb be does not show action. It
tells what someone or something is or is like.

Use am or was with the subject .

• I was the best player last year.
• I am hungry.
• It was Valentines day.
• I am happy.
• It was Easter.

Use is or was with singular nouns and he, she, or
it.

• My best story is about when I was a baby.
• She was lovely.
• He was handsome.
• I was new in school.
• He was nice.

Use are or were with plural nouns and we, you, or
they.

• Youre my best friend.
• Can we play with you.
• Are you exited.
• You will go home.
• You are nice.
