• How to Do It Ask questions that cannot be

• Purpose To show the other person you understand
  what they are saying.
• How to Do It Restate what the speaker says using
  different words.
• Example So, you mean she lied to you and now you
  want to tell her off. Is that what you are
  talking about?

• Purpose To further your understanding by thinking
  seriously about what is being said take time to
  think longer and harder and maybe catch something
  you missed earlier.
• Example Oh, now I get it. I am hearing you know.

• 1. Concentrate, pay attention and really make an
  effort to listen
• 2. Show honest interest by nodding your head and
  saying I get it.
• 3. Let the speaker talk. Interruptions should
  only be made to make sure you understand what the
  other person is saying.
• 4. Make sure you understand the meaning of all
  words the speaker is using.
• 5. Let the speaker finish his entire
  communication.
