  • One Attending per team every two weeks
  • Q 4 long- overnight call with cap of 5
    patients-residents admit overflow
  • Q 4 (alternate with long) short call-until 2PM
    with cap of 2
  • Clinic day short call is 1 pt until noon

VA Wards
  • For Teams Blue, Green, Orange, White
  • One Resident 2 Interns per team
  • One intern takes call with his/her resident
  • One intern is Orphan- takes call with a
    resident who covers--from Screening
  • Overnight coverage for July and August then until
    midnight

  • Admissions come from Screening, Unit, other
    services, NH, Home
  • All patients should be seen by a covering
    resident
  • Present new patients post call rounds
  • Round each day with attending at 8 AM
  • Expected to have pre-rounded
  • Days off

VA Ward Conferences
  • Noon conference- every day 2nd floor conference
    room
  • Morning report-for interns every Thursday at 930
    in department of medicine conference room- for
    residents 930 M-W-F
  • Grand Rounds Tuesday 730 AM at UH-
    teleconference at VA
  • MM Wednesday at noon in place of noon conference

VA Unit
  • Mixed Medical and Cardiac ICU with one attending
    for each service
  • Closed Unit
  • Three teams of 1 intern 1 resident
  • Q3 overnight call
  • Days off

Miscellaneous
  • Food- get money from Dept. of Medicine--Cafeteria
    until 4 M-F and Sat Morning Canteen 8-4 M-F
  • Dinners brought in by screener
  • Parking
  • Radiology
  • CPRS
  • Phones- call 96 to get to UH, 99 dial out
