• Commander in Chief of the Continental Army
• First President of the United States 1789-1797

• Surveyor of Shenandoah lands in Virginia
• Fought during the French and Indian War
• Elected into the Virginian House of Burgesses

• Participated in the Second Continental Congress
  in 1775 as a delegate of Virginia
• Elected Commander in Chief of the Continental
  Army
• Wrote advice to the Continental Congress from the
  field
• Delaware Crossing 1776
• Battle of Yorktown ended the war

• Felt the Articles werent working and pushed for
  the new Constitution
• Participated in the Philadelphia Convention in
  1787
• Unanimously voted President once the Constitution
  was ratified
• Served for eight years with a neutral stance on
  international affairs

• Retired to Mount Vernon with Martha
• Died in 1799 after less that three years of
  retirement
