  • Thunderstorms are caused by the build up of
    static electricity from the rapid movement of
    air.
  • Safety Tips
  • Find Shelter, either a car, shed or building.
  • Avoid tall objects such as a flag pole or tree.
  • Avoid open spaces where you are the tallest
    object.
  • Avoid metal objects that may attract electricity.
  • Avoid using electrical equipment
  • Avoid being in or near water.

Tornadoes
  • A Tornado is a swirling funnel shaped cloud that
    reaches the ground from the atmosphere.
  • Safety Tips
  • Move to a basement of a well built building
  • In there is no basement Move to the middle of
    the ground floor or into the tub of a bathroom
  • Stay away from windows or doors
  • If Outside Lay flat in a ditch.

  • In case of a flood evacuate the area
  • Pack emergency supplies
  • In case of Drought conserve water.
  • Take care of campfires and burnings.
