Grammar explanation

• direct objects receive the action of the verb
• The cat eats the food.
• direct object pronouns (DOP) take the place of
  the direct object noun
• The cat eats it. (referring to the food)
• Tengo el pasaporte. ? Lo tengo.

Pronombres objetivos

• me Ellos me conocen.
• te Te veo.
• lo/la Lo quiero. or La quiero.
• nos Él nos invita a su fiesta.
• os Os echo de menos. (sólo Esp.)
• los/las Las veo ahora! or Los llevo a la
  parada de autobús.

• When a person is the direct object of a sentence,
  then the a is required.
• Invito a María para viajar a México.
• No vemos al auxiliar de vuelo.
• But when the DOP is used, the a is not used.
• La invito para viajar a México.
• No lo vemos.

DOP with an infinitive

• when an infinitive follows the conjugated verb,
  there are two options
• DOP before conjugated verb
• DOP attached to infinitive
• No voy a hacer la maleta.
• No la voy a hacer. (common in Spain)
• No voy a hacerla. (common in LAm)
