Title: MITOSIS

1
MITOSIS
  • EUKARYOTIC CELLS
  • (plant and animal cells)

2
INTERPHASE Before Mitosis begins
  • Chromosomes and other cell materials are copied.
  • Centrioles appear
  • Chromosomes are now 2 chromatids

3
PROPHASE
  • Nucleus breaks apart.
  • Centrioles move to opposite sides of the cell
  • Fibers form and attach to the centromeres

4
Prometaphase
5
METAPHASE
  • Chromosomes line up along the equator (middle) of
    the cell

6
ANAPHASE
  • Chromatids separate and are pulled to opposite
sides of the cell by the fibers.

7
TELOPHASE
  • Nucleus forms around the chromosomes
  • Chromosomes unwind
  • Fibers disappear
  • MITOSIS IS COMPLETE

9
AFTER MITOSIS--CYTOKINESIS
  • Cytoplasm splits in two
  • Two identical cells are formed
  • The Eukaryotic cell cycle is complete
