  • China is a communist state, meaning that it has a
    single-party rule, and follows communist
    ideology.
  • Hu Jintao is the "paramount leader" of China, and
    was chosen by the leader before him.

Economy
  • China has a socialist economy, meaning that the
    public can run businesses, but the government
    controls many aspects of businesses such as
    income of workers.
  • Major Imports Machinery/equipment, mineral
    fuels, plastics, iron, steel, and chemicals
  • Major Exports Machinery/equipment, textiles and
    clothing, footwear, toys and sporting goods,
    mineral fuels.
  • China struggles to combat corruption, and other
    economic crimes.
  • One of Chinas greatest successes is the major
    amount of exports it trades with the world.

General Geography
  • China has a very diverse land, filled with high
    plateaus, mountains, forests, rivers, plains and
    deserts.
  • The most important of these features are the
    mountains, taking up 1/3 of China's land. The
    highest mountain range in the world, the
    Himalayas, resides partially in China.
  • Two major rivers run through China, the Yellow
    and the Yangtze (the 3rd largest river in the
    world.

Climate
  • China lies mainly in the temperate zone, while
    the southernmost areas reach into the tropics,
    and northernmost areas reach just below the
    arctic circle.
  • Southern China is very wet, and the land dries up
    as you head north. The northwestern part of
    China, which is in the Gobi Desert, has less than
    2 inches of rain yearly in most areas.

prepare rice in China.
  • One major Chinese food is rice, which is prepared
    in many different ways, and fish. Many different
    kinds of fish are consumed, and can also be
    prepared in different ways. Chopsticks are often
    used as utensils. Other foods include different
    types of noodles, vegetables, and other meats
    (mainly chicken).
