Maryland Emergency Management Agency
  • FY08 Grant
  • Issues
  • Due to the City Councils decision that a
separate Tsunami brochure was not needed a
compromise was reached with the NTHMP to add an
tsunami segment to the natural hazards brochure,
    resulting in the adjustment 1,900.

Maryland Emergency Management Agency
  • FY10 Grant
  • Issues
  • Due to the complexity of identifying the best
approach for the transfer of funds from MEMA to
    the contractor.
  • East coast partners need to evaluate and possibly
restructure their funding request for FY11-12 to
better address East coast training and outreach
    needs.
  • Tsunamis remain an extremely low risk hazard for
    much of the East Coast.
  • Budgets and staffing reductions, coupled with low
risk of occurrence have restricted the activities
    in the program.

9
Maryland Emergency Management Agency
  • FY10 Grant
  • Issues
  • State and local budgets are such that their
ability to focus on the development of a Tsunami
    program remains a low priority.
  • Turn over of staff at the FEMA, state and local
levels along the East coast has added to the slow
progress being made along the East coast.
  • We need to build a strong case for this program
and this will rely heavily on future mapping and
    inundation results.
