  • Teachers are those who help clients learn.
  • The objective is typically a course of study or
    curriculum, or a
  • practical skill (Social Skills), including
    learning(Independent Living) and thinking
    (Academic) skills.

What methods are in place to teach?
  • The different ways to teach are often referred to
    as the teacher's pedagogy.
  • Our method of teaching alternatives to
    maladaptive behaviors is Learning Theory in which
    we support Behaviorsim and Cognitivism.

Behaviorism Operant conditioning
  • A behavior may result either in reinforcement,
    which increases the likelihood of that behavior
    occurring again or punishment,which decreases
    the likelihood of the same behavior recurring in
    the future.
  • The issues surrounding are relatively complex.

TFM Learning Theory
  • Youth Quest has adopted the Teaching Family Model
    which has adopted Learning Theory as the method
    of teaching to use.
  • This has been done while considering the clients'
    background knowledge, environment, and their
    learning goals as well as standardized curriculum
    as determined by their service plan which is
    updated and prescribed during home team meetings

  • Example a thumbs up by a Practitioner when you
    notice he doesnt make a rude comment when the
    same topic presents itself that he perhaps was
    rude about the religion before.
  • To a nod of approval when you catch him.

  • Should only be used as a last resort, why?
  • How do some Practitioners fall into the trap of
    punishment?
  • Temporary suppression of undesired
    behaviors
  • This produces the vicious cycle of
    heavier and heavier doses of punishment to
    control behavior due to satiation.
