Georgia Code of LawsO.C.G.A. 20-2-1185

•    (a) Every public school shall prepare a school
  safety plan to help curb the growing incidence of
  violence in schools, to respond effectively to
  such incidents, and to provide a safe learning
  environment for Georgia's children, teachers, and
  other school personnel. Such plan shall also
  address preparedness for natural disasters,
  hazardous materials or radiological accidents,
  acts of violence, and acts of terrorism. (more

Mandatory ReporterO.C.G.A 19-7-5

• 19-7-5.  Reporting of child abuse when
  mandated or authorized content of report to
  whom made immunity from liability report based
  upon privileged communication penalty for
  failure to report
• School teachers, administrators, guidance
  counselors, school psychologists, visiting
  teachers
• Must be done within 24 hours

• O.C.G.A. 16-11-127.1 establishes a School Safety
  Zone
• O.C.G.A. 20-2-1180 makes it unlawful for a person
  to remain on school property or within the
  School Safety Zone if there is no legitimate
  reason
• O.C.G.A. 20-2-1181 makes it unlawful for any
  person to disrupt or interfere with the operation
  of a public school
• O.C.G.A. 20-2-780 makes it unlawful to make or
  attempt to make a change of custody of a minor
  child at a private, public school.

• O.C.G.A. 20-2-1182 makes it unlawful for any
  parent, guardian, or person other than a student
  at a public school to insult, abuse, or upbraid a
  teacher or other school personnel
• O.C.G.A. 20-2-1183 prohibits students from
  carrying electronic communication devices
• O.C.G.A. 20-2-1184 requires teachers and other
  persons to report certain crimes and creates
  immunity for doing so when done in good faith

Developing a Security Template

• On-site assessments of all high schools and
  middle schools to insure prepared response by all
  emergency service
• Identify primary/secondary evacuation sites
• Aerial Photos of all High/Middle Schools
• MOUs and/or Protocols in place
• Intrusion Alarm Systems installed in all schools

Activating the Special Response Team

• Principal, Headmaster, or designee leader
• Director of Operations
• Check-out personnel

Aircraft Disasters

• Small or large aircraft
• People should be removed upwind from a crash site
• Triage area for injured

Bomb Threat

• In an unconfirmed threat (no visible device), the
  school administration will make an evacuation
  decision
• Evacuate immediate area immediately!
• Restrict use of phones, cell phones, hand-held
  radios

• Personnel to the scene

• Advise your command center of names and
  conditions ASAP
• Prepare for media

• Intruder in a certain area
• Lock immediate area, evacuate remaining area

Vandalism, Graffiti

• Call local law enforcement authorities
• DO NOT begin cleanup until law enforcement has
  arrived and processed the scene
• After investigation, cover it until it can be
  cleaned
• Prepare a media statement

• Require identification and check in
• Challenge anyone you dont recognize
• Employees should wear photo ID
