Georgia Code of LawsO.C.G.A. 20-2-1185
  •    (a) Every public school shall prepare a school
    safety plan to help curb the growing incidence of
    violence in schools, to respond effectively to
    such incidents, and to provide a safe learning
    environment for Georgia's children, teachers, and
    other school personnel. Such plan shall also
    address preparedness for natural disasters,
    hazardous materials or radiological accidents,
    acts of violence, and acts of terrorism. (more

Mandatory ReporterO.C.G.A 19-7-5
  • 19-7-5.  Reporting of child abuse when
    mandated or authorized content of report to
    whom made immunity from liability report based
    upon privileged communication penalty for
    failure to report
  • School teachers, administrators, guidance
    counselors, school psychologists, visiting
    teachers
  • Must be done within 24 hours

  • O.C.G.A. 16-11-127.1 establishes a School Safety
    Zone
  • O.C.G.A. 20-2-1180 makes it unlawful for a person
    to remain on school property or within the
    School Safety Zone if there is no legitimate
    reason
  • O.C.G.A. 20-2-1181 makes it unlawful for any
    person to disrupt or interfere with the operation
    of a public school
  • O.C.G.A. 20-2-780 makes it unlawful to make or
    attempt to make a change of custody of a minor
    child at a private, public school.

  • On-site assessments of all high schools and
    middle schools to insure prepared response by all
    emergency service
  • Identify primary/secondary evacuation sites

  • MOUs and/or Protocols in place
  • Intrusion Alarm Systems installed in all schools
