I want to show you some Scriptures concerning
traditions
5
But it says in Mark 78 You leave the
commandment of God and hold to the tradition of
men. The key is in the first part of this verse
YOU LEAVE THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD and hold to the
tradition of men.
6
I Cor 112 2 Now I praise you because you have
remembered everything I told you and observe
the traditions just the way I passed them on to
you.
7
II Thes 2 15 Therefore, brothers, stand firm
and hold to the traditions you were taught by us,
whether we spoke them or wrote them in a letter.
8
II Thes 3 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw
yourselves from every brother that walketh
disorderly, and not after the tradition which he
received of us.
9
  • Wed like to welcome any visitors.
  • We have visitor cards that you can fill out then
drop into the Tzedika (offering) box when we pass
    it around.

10
  • Begin online broadcast!

11
  • Welcome to our online Congregation. Were glad
to have you with us this Shabbat.

12
  • T-shirts!

13
  • Yes, we have a money changing table. Yeshua was
not against that, He was against the fact that
they were robbing the people, they werent
    charging fair prices.

14
  • The people HAD to have a way to change money and
buy the animals needed for sacrifice.
  • They were coming from all over the world, it was
    a necessity.

15
  • Head Coverings. They were no good, they were
    made out of polyester.

16
  • We have some friends that will be picking up
some gold Messianic Jewelry for us in India. Its
22K gold so it retains its value. If you havent
already, invest in gold and silver! This gold
jewelry were offering is a great investment for
    anyone!

17
  • The big sign is ready!
  • Its down on the main st. and it says What
    About Gods Laws

18
  • Beginning Hebrew today after service.

19
  • In 2 weeks, for the Shabbat Message, Ill be
teaching Prayer For The Palestinian Problem.
    Invite your unsaved friends.

20
  • The teaching is a run down of what is really
happening between the Israelis and the
Palestinians. It makes it easy to understand what
the situation over there is actually about and
what the Israelis are up against. Its very
political in nature (non religious) and leaves no
room for misunderstanding the true motives of the
players in the region. Believer or not this is a
    teaching no one should miss.

21
  • Order your Tefilin from Bob at the back after
    service.
  • Deut 1118

22
  • Therefore, you are to store up these words of
mine in your heart and in all your being tie
them on your hand as a sign put them at the
front of a headband around your forehead.

23
We do it! What a concept!

    program.
  • Would you like to say hello Nicole?

27
  • Teresa and I have spent some time with Nicole,
shes great with kids and very dynamic.
  • Were very happy to have her working with us and
helping us further the Messianic Message with our
    youth.

28
  • Messianic Judaism classes for beginners.
  • Bob will be leading a class once a week for those
who would like to learn more about Messianic
    Judaism.

29
  • I mentioned this before about the HaYesod (The
    Foundation) program.
  • Were offering it free for those who are
interested. If you buy it online its 60.00 per
    family

30
  • This is a program not only good for beginners,
but also for those who would like to review some
of the basics of Messianic Judaism.

31
  • Even if youve been in Messianic Judaism for a
while, youll still learn quite a bit from these
    teachings.
  • I recommend it for everyone here.

32
  • Its not as intensive as what you hear on Shabbat
and Tuesday nights but that could be a good thing
    too.
  • Its non threatening and good to bring a Church
    friend to as well.

33
  • Its also really good for people who are coming
out of the Church, it uses Christian terms that
they can understand and is familiar to them. It
has a gentle way of teaching Messianic Judaism.

34
  • Were going to look at part one of an overview of
the program on their website. Its about 8
    minutes long.
  • Show video.

35
  • We need to know how many people are wanting to
take this course and what day/evening is best for
    everyone.

36

A priest dies and is waiting in line at the
Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who's dressed
in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket, and
jeans.Saint Peter addresses this cool guy, 'Who
are you, so that I may know whether or not to
admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven ? 'The guy
replies, 'I'm Jack, retired airline pilot from
Houston .'
43
Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says
to the pilot, 'Take this silken robe and golden
staff and enter the Kingdom.' The pilot goes into
Heaven with his robe and staff.Next, it's the
priest's turn. He stands erect and booms out, 'I
am Father Bob, pastor of Saint Mary's for the
last 43 years.'
44
Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the
priest, 'Take this cotton robe and wooden staff
and enter the Kingdom.
45
'Just a minute,' says the good father. 'That man
was a pilot and he gets a silken robe and golden
staff and I get only cotton and wood. How can
this be?
46
'Up here - we go by results,' says Saint Peter.
'When you preached - people slept.
47
When he flew, people prayed.'

101-22
95
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
21 "You are not to plant any sort of tree as a
sacred pole beside the altar of ADONAI your God
that you will make for yourselves. 1 "You are not
to sacrifice to ADONAI your God a cow or sheep
that has a defect or anything wrong with it that
would be an abomination to ADONAI your God.

96
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
2 "If there is found among you, within any of
your gates in any city that ADONAI your God
gives you, a man or woman who does what ADONAI
your God sees as wicked, transgressing his
covenant 3 by going and serving other gods and
worshipping them, the sun, the moon, or anything
in the sky - something I have forbidden -

97
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
4 and it is told to you, or you hear about it
then you are to investigate the matter
diligently. If it is true, if it is confirmed
that such detestable things are being done in
Isra'el 5 then you are to bring the man or woman
who has done this wicked thing to your city
gates, and stone that man or woman to death.

98
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
6 The death sentence is to be carried out only if
there was testimony from two or three witnesses
he may not be sentenced to death on the testimony
of only one witness. 7 The witnesses are to be
the first to stone him to death afterwards, all
the people are to stone him. Thus you will put an
end to this wickedness among you.

99
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
8 "If a case comes before you at your city gate
which is too difficult for you to judge,
concerning bloodshed, civil suit, personal injury
or any other controversial issue you are to get
up, go to the place which ADONAI your God will
choose,

100
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
9 and appear before the cohanim, who are L'vi'im,
and the judge in office at the time. Seek their
opinion, and they will render a verdict for you.
10 You will then act according to what they have
told you there in that place which ADONAI will
choose you are to take care to act according to
all their instructions.

101
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
11 In accordance with the Torah they teach you,
you are to carry out the judgment they render,
not turning aside to the right or the left from
the verdict they declare to you. 12 Anyone
presumptuous enough not to pay attention to the
cohen appointed there to serve ADONAI your God or
to the judge - that person must die. Thus you
will exterminate such wickedness from Isra'el -

102
Deuteronomy 1621 1713
13 all the people will hear about it and be
afraid to continue acting presumptuously. End
(Baruch HaShem)

103
Isaiah 521-12
1 Awake! Awake, Tziyon! Clothe yourself with your
strength! Dress in your splendid garments,
Yerushalayim, the holy city! For the
uncircumcised and the unclean will enter you no
more. 2 Shake off the dust! Arise! Be enthroned,
Yerushalayim! Loosen the chains on your neck,
captive daughter of Tziyon!

104
Isaiah 521-12
3 For thus says ADONAI "You were sold for
nothing, and you will be redeemed without money."
4 For thus says Adonai ELOHIM "Long ago my
people went down to Egypt to live there as
aliens, and Ashur oppressed them for no reason.

105
Isaiah 521-12
5 So now, what should I do here," asks ADONAI,
"since my people were carried off for nothing?
Their oppressors are howling," says ADONAI, "and
my name is always being insulted, daily. 6
Therefore my people will know my name therefore
on that day they will know that I, the one
speaking - here I am!"

106
Isaiah 521-12
7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of
him who brings good news, proclaiming shalom,
bringing good news of good things, announcing
salvation and saying to Tziyon, "Your God is
King!"

107
Isaiah 521-12
8 Listen! Your watchmen are raising their voices,
shouting for joy together. For they will see,
before their own eyes, ADONAI returning to
Tziyon. 9 Break out into joy! Sing together, you
ruins of Yerushalayim! For ADONAI has comforted
his people, he has redeemed Yerushalayim!

108
Isaiah 521-12
10 ADONAI has bared his holy arm in the sight of
every nation, and all the ends of the earth will
see the salvation of our God. 11 Leave! Leave!
Get out of there! Don't touch anything unclean!
Get out from inside it, and be clean, you who
carry ADONAI's temple equipment.

109
Isaiah 521-12
12 You need not leave in haste, you do not have
to flee for ADONAI will go ahead of you, and the
God of Isra'el will also be behind you. END
(Baruch HaShem)

Acts 101-22
1 There was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a
Roman army officer in what was called the Italian
Regiment. 2 He was a devout man, a "God-fearer,"
as was his whole household he gave generously to
help the Jewish poor and prayed regularly to God.

111
Acts 101-22
3 One afternoon around three o'clock he saw
clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and
saying to him, "Cornelius!" 4 Cornelius stared at
the angel, terrified. "What is it, sir?" he
asked. "Your prayers," replied the angel, "and
your acts of charity have gone up into God's
presence, so that he has you on his mind.

112
Acts 101-22
5 Now send some men to Yafo to bring back a man
named Shim'on, also called Kefa. 6 He's staying
with Shim'on the leather-tanner, who has a house
by the sea." 7 As the angel that had spoken to
him went away, Cornelius called two of his
household slaves and one of his military aides,
who was a godly man 8 he explained everything to
them and sent them to Yafo.

113
Acts 101-22
9 The next day about noon, while they were still
on their way and approaching the city, Kefa went
up onto the roof of the house to pray. 10 He
began to feel hungry and wanted something to eat
but while they were preparing the meal, he fell
into a trance 11 in which he saw heaven opened,
and something that looked like a large sheet
being lowered to the ground by its four corners.

114
Acts 101-22
12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals,
crawling creatures and wild birds. 13 Then a
voice came to him, "Get up, Kefa, slaughter and
eat!" 14 But Kefa said, "No, sir! Absolutely not!
I have never eaten food that was unclean or
treif." 15 The voice spoke to him a second time
"Stop treating as unclean what God has made
clean."

115
Acts 101-22
16 This happened three times, and then the sheet
was immediately taken back up into heaven. 17
Kefa was still puzzling over the meaning of the
vision he had seen, when the men Cornelius had
sent, having inquired for Shim'on's house, stood
at the gate 18 and called out to ask if the
Shim'on known as Kefa was staying there.

116
Acts 101-22
19 While Kefa's mind was still on the vision, the
Spirit said, "Three men are looking for you. 20
Get up, go downstairs, and have no misgivings
about going with them, because I myself have sent
them." 21 So Kefa went down and said to the men,
"You were looking for me? Here I am. What brings
you here?"

117
Acts 101-22
22 They answered, "Cornelius. He's a Roman army
officer, an upright man and a God-fearer, a man
highly regarded by the whole Jewish nation and
he was told by a holy angel to have you come to
his house and listen to what you have to say."
End (Baruch HaShem)

Todays Message The G-d Fearers ?e?f?ße??

121
  • Today were going to find out who the G-d Fearers
    were.
  • Were going to look at Scriptural references
concerning them, ancient Jewish writings and also
    ancient inscriptions in Asia Minor.

122
  • Lets look first at the Brit Hadasha (New
Testament) Acts 1315 After the reading from the
Torah and from the Prophets, the synagogue
leaders sent them a message, "Brothers, if any of
you has a word of exhortation for the people,
    speak!"

123
  • 16 So Sha'ul stood, motioned with his hand, and
said "Men of Isra'el and God-fearers, listen! 17
The God of this people Isra'el chose our fathers.
He made the people great during the time when
they were living as aliens in Egypt and with a
stretched-out arm he led them out of that land.

124
  • Many assume today that the term G-d fearers was
    simply anyone who feared
  • G-d.
  • Thats a reasonable assumption but a false one.

125
  • The G-d Fearers were a particular group of
    people.
  • They werent Jews and they werent proselytes
    either.
  • So what were they?

126
  • The G-d fearers were Gentiles who had leanings
towards becoming Jews but hadnt quite yet become
    converts.

127
  • Well, if they wanted to become Jews, why didn't
    they just do it???
  • Their main objection was a very understandable
    obstacle

128
  • Circumcision!
  • Thats what was stopping them.
  • They believed in the G-d of Israel.
  • They believed in keeping His Holy Laws but

129
  • They were scared of the pain.
  • Its not an easy decision to make if youre an
    adult.
  • Circumcision scared even the toughest of the
    Roman soldiers

130
  • Cornelius was a G-d Fearer.
  • Acts 101 There was a man in Caesarea named
Cornelius, a Roman army officer in what was
    called the Italian Regiment.

131
  • 2 He was a devout man, a "God-fearer," as was his
whole household he gave generously to help the
Jewish poor and prayed regularly to God.

132
  • First we want to notice Cornelius was from the
    Italian RegimentCohores II Miliaria Italica
    Civium Romanorum

133
  • Coheres means cohort.
  • A cohort had ten Centuries (Centurions).
  • A cohort was the equivalent of a modern military
    battalion.

134
  • Cornelius was one of these ten Centuries
    (Centurions).
  • Hed be the equivalent of a Company Commander or
    Captain.

135
  • This battalion (The Italian Regiment) was an
auxiliary unit, not part of the regular Roman
    legion.
  • What does that mean?
  • Well, that means they were brought on for special
    duties.

136
  • They were enrolled only in periods of great need.
  • Not only was Cornelius part of this special unit
he was a Centurion of this special unit.

137
  • Were taught in Bible School that Centurions were
simply leaders of 100 (century) men.
  • Thats not the whole story though.
  • Centurions were very cultivated and highly
    trained.

138
  • The Greek historian Polybius wrote this about the
Centurion They are the backbone of the Roman
Army. They wish Centurions not so much to be
venturesome and daredevil as natural leaders, of
    a steady and sedate spirit.

139
  • They do not desire them so much to be men who
will initiate attacks and open the battle, but
men who will hold their ground when worsted and
hard pressed and be ready to die at their posts"
    (Histories 6.24.9).

140
  • Basically, they were the Green Berets of their
    time.
  • They werent a bunch of hot heads and they were
ready to die for their country.
  • So Cornelius was a tough individual.

141
  • Cornelius was also a devout man. Not only was he
devout but his whole family was following his
    lead in the faith...

142
  • Acts says along with all his household which
would have included household servants and
    military orderlies and their families.

143
  • Thats a sizeable amount.
  • Probably around 20 or so people.
  • So he was tough and a leader who loved G-d very
    much but

144
  • He didnt want to undergo circumcision.
  • Thats where he drew the line.

145
  • If youre going to draw a line, that is the best
    place to draw it.
  • Youre going to do what to my what??? Im going
to need some time to think on that one

146
  • And thats where he was at spiritually when Peter
    came to see him.
  • Did he make the jump later and become a Jew?
  • Of course he did!

147
  • Well, where does it say that???
  • It doesnt.
  • Well then how can you say such a thing???

148
  • Because in Judaism we assume that a devout person
is always growing closer to the L-rd.
  • This is in contrast to those who assume that one
    can stay stagnant.

149
  • I wont say who that is but heres a clue its
those who think abstaining from food polluted by
idols, sexual immorality, meat of strangled
animals, and from blood is the MAXIMUM
requirement to being Saved. Acts 15, thats all
    we gotta do!

150
  • So Cornelius was a G-d Fearer who of course
eventually became a Jew, because thats where
    faith in Yeshua leads.

151
  • RememberYeshua is our perfect example and He
showed us how to live the Jewish lifestyle.

152
  • Its pretty simple folks even in a Christian
    understanding.
  • Jesus was a Jew from when he woke up till He went
    to bed.
  • Everything He did was Jewish.

153
  • We also know He was our perfect example right?
  • We all agree with that so put it together!
  • If He was our perfect example, and He lived like
a Jew, how should we live?

154
  • Its so simple even a babe can understand!

155
  • If we were supposed to live like Gentiles,
shouldnt He have shown us how to live the
perfect Gentile life if he was our example?
  • Back to the G-d Fearers.

156
  • They were also called Those who Feared G-d and
also Those who honored G-d but these are all
    the same group.
  • And these G-d Fearers were EVERYWHERE in the
    first century.

157
  • They were all over the Diaspora (any land outside
of Israel) and we have proof that the G-d Fearers
    were all over.

158
  • in 1987 a square marble column was found in Asia
    Minor (today known as Turkey)
  • This column is about 9 ft tall and dates close to
    the first century

159
  • It was part of a synagogue at the center of a
    thriving Diaspora Jewish community in
    Aphrodisias.
  • Aphrodisias was named after the Greek goddess,
    Aphrodite.

160
  • The inscription on this column wraps around two
sides of the column and provides a list of about
    135 names.
  • The term God-fearer appears on both sides.

161
  • Prior to the term G-d Fearer on this column, it
says Jew and Proselyte showing that there
were 3 distinct groups of people in the Synagogue.

162
  • All three groups are designated as lovers of
learning and those who wholly praise God.

163
  • This is the column that was found and it is now
    in a museum in Turkey.

164
  • Heres one of the actual inscriptions up close

??? ?C?? T??C??C and to these god-fearers
165
  • This isnt the only proof we have that there were
G-d Fearers all over the Diaspora.
  • Welcome Josephus

166
  • The Jews were constantly attracting to their
religious ceremonies (in the Diaspora) multitudes
of Greek, and these they had in some measure
    incorporated with themselves."

167
  • He also states "But no one need wonder that there
was so much wealth in our temple, for all the
Jews throughout the habitable world, and Fearers
of God (G-d Fearers), even those from Asia and
Europe, had been contributing to it for a very
    long time."

168
  • Now, dont confuse these G-d Fearers with the few
G-d Fearers who were interested in the Sect of
    the Nazerenes.
  • Theres two different groups were talking about.

169
  • There was a whole bunch of G-d Fearers (Gentiles)
who were interested in Judaism in general and a
few, very few of those who were interested in the
Sect of the Nazarene Judaism in particular.

170
  • See, a lot of todays scholars make that mistake
    here.
  • They think all these G-d Fearers who were
interested in Judaism in general ALL became
Christians and thats how Christianity spread so
    quickly throughout the Diaspora.
  • Thats what theyll tell you

171
  • But I will tell youPauls Shammamite message
didnt spread very quickly at all.
  • He preached strict adherence to the Law including
    circumcision!
  • And it wasnt met with well by the Gentiles!

172
  • The commentators disagree with what Im saying
here and write, The Gentile population was
primed and ready for this message of the Early
Church. The G-d fearers had wanted to convert to
Judaism but they didnt want to get circumcised
    and

173
  • Christianity had decreed (via Acts) that they
could forgo that rite and they were thus easily
brought into the fold of the Christian Church.

174
  • And thats a bunch of hooey!
  • The vast amount of Gentiles that came into the
    Church was much later!

175
  • It wasnt during Pauls so called missionary
journeys that all these Gentiles came pouring
in it was AFTER the Church Step Fathers had done
away with Law and paganized the faith. It had
    nothing to do with Paul!

176
  • And it wasnt the sect of the Nazarenes that
brought in the G-d Fearers by nullifying
  • G-ds Commandments.
  • And I can prove it!!!

177
  • Remember Epiphanius ? Church Step Father.

178
  • But these sectarians did not call themselves
Christians-but Nazarenes, they are still fettered
by the Law -- circumcision, the Sabbath, and the
    rest.
  • The Nazarenes preached circumcision and that was
one of the many things that separated them from
    the Christians.
  • Who was the ringleader of the Nazarenes?

179
  • The Nazarenes were Pauls sect.
  • Acts 245 in talking about Paul says
  • "We have found this man to be a troublemaker,
stirring up riots among the Jews all over the
world. He is a ringleader of the Nazarene sect.

180
  • Do you see where Im going with this?
  • The Church is telling us that Their Guy, Paul,
was the one who was telling all the Gentiles to
become Christians and that they didnt have to
    get circumcised.
  • But their own Church Father Epiphinius informs us
that Paul taught that one must be circumcised! A
    voice from the past.

181
  • Ill make a prediction today (not a thus saith
    the Lord)
  • I dont make predictions very often but this is
    pretty much a sure thing.

182
  • As Epiphanius becomes more known in the Church
world via Messianics quoting him, I predict well
    see Christian Commentators attacking Epiphanius
    credibility.

183
  • Theyll have to!
  • Because hes too damaging to their credibility.

184
  • Epiphanius could single-handedly take down the
Christian Church as we know it.
  • The info he gives us destroys todays Christian
    theology

185
  • So all this stuff weve been taught in Church
about Pauls missionary journeys about how all
these Gentiles got Saved under his ministry none
    of its true.

186
  • Not a lot of Gentiles were rushing to get
    circumcised.
  • The vast majority of people who got Saved on his
    missionary journeys were Jews.

187
  • You sound awfully anti-Gentile.
  • Thats because I am. I think the whole world
    should become Jews.
  • Just like Jesus thinks.

188
  • Whats so different then Christians thinking the
    whole world should become Christian?
  • Same thing, I think the whole world should become
Jewish and how does one do that? How does one
    become a Jew?

189
  • By keeping His Commandments.
  • By keeping His Commandments we begin to think
like Yeshua, our minds begin to be healed.

190
  • Am I really so bad for wanting that for everyone?
  • Nothing wrong with being a G-d Fearer for a
    while!

191
  • But you cant be a G-d Fearer forever.
  • You either go forward or backwards.
  • Never stagnant.

192
  • No wait just a second Jew boy! Acts 1344 says
  • The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered
to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews
saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy
and blaspheming, they contradicted what was
spoken by Paul. Then both Paul and Barnabas spoke
    out boldly, saying,

193
  • "It was necessary that the word of God should be
spoken first to you. Since you reject it and
judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life,
we are now turning to the Gentiles. For so the
Lord has commanded us, saying, 'I have set you to
be a light for the Gentiles, so that you may
bring salvation to the ends of the earth.' " When
the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and
praised the word of the Lord and as many as had
been destined for eternal life became believers
    (Acts 1344-48).

194
  • They interpret this passage to mean that the Jews
rejected Jesus and now they were going to reach
    out to the Gentiles.
  • 3 major problems with that idea

195
  • 1. The Jews did NOT reject Jesus.
  • Ive shown before how over half of Israel was
    Born Again.
  • Thats over 50! Show me one Gentile nation that
has ever had that kind of percentage?

196
  • Problem 2.

197
  • Lets have a look at the world today

198
  • So lets clarify a little here Jesus came into
His ministry when He was 30 years old, died when
He was 33. The events here in Acts were
approximately within 20 years after that (being
    generous with 20 years).

199
  • So the Church wants us to believe that the Jews
got approximately 23 years to accept Him then
    they were cut off.

200
  • Then after that came the Time of the Gentiles
and thats gone on now for almost 2,000 years and
    still going.
  • Lets see how that has turned out

201
  • Lets look at the results of that effort now as
we look again at the chart.

202
  • 5.78 in 2,000 years. I dont think they did so
    good.
  • Well what about all those Saved Jews you were
    talkin about, howd they do?
  • Not so good either.

203
  • Because the Christians killed most of us.
  • So we Jews, according to this theology, only got
23 years and the Gentiles are given 2,000 years
    so far. Thats problem 2
  • 3rd problem

204
  • Lets take another look at the portion in Acts
  • Paul and Barnabas spoke out
  • "It was necessary that the word of God should be
    spoken first to you.

205
  • Since you reject it and judge yourselves to be
unworthy of eternal life, we are now turning to
the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us,
saying, 'I have set you to be a light for the
Gentiles, so that you may bring salvation to the
    ends of the earth.' "

206
  • What is the Hebrew word for Gentiles?
  • What can it mean?
  • Anyone who is not a Jew and it can mean Nations
  • Lets look at an example

207
Genesis 105 KJV By these were the isles of the
Gentiles divided in their lands every one after
his tongue, after their families, in their
nations. FYIIn the King James Old Testament,
the Hebrew words goy and goyim are translated
nation(s) 373 times, heathen(s) 142 times,
gentiles 30 times, people(s) 11 times, Once, the
Jewish people are even referred to as a goy , a
"holy nation. Goy Kadosh Exodus 196, God says
that the Children of Israel will be 'a kingdom of
priests and a holy nation,' that is, a goy
kadosh.

208
So when you come across the word goy or goyim
its usually going to be translated as Nations.
373 times (Nations) compared to 30 times(Gentile)
is a big ratio. So most of the times by far, the
word goy is going to be translated Nations.

209
  • So now that youve been armed with that lets
read again Paul and Barnabas spoke out
  • "It was necessary that the word of God should be
spoken first to you. Since you reject it and
judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life,
we are now turning to the Gentiles (nations). For
so the Lord has commanded us, saying, 'I have set
you to be a light for the Gentiles (nations), so
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the
    earth. "

210
  • When you use the word nations does it sound a
    little different now???

211
  • Heres whats actually happening Paul and
Barnabas are talking to a few Jews, just a few
who had rejected Yeshua (because we now know that
all of Israel didnt reject Jesus and we dont
believe the Jews only got 23 years and the
Gentiles got over 2,000 years to accept Him,
    because that would be absurd)

212
  • these few Jews they were talking to had heard the
Message of Yeshua just as all of Israel had in
the last 23 years but there were a few who were
still being obstinate and Paul was saying to
    those few,

213
  • Youve had your chance! Were leaving this area
and are now going to go to the Synagogues in the
NATIONS and share with them the Message you few
    obstinate people are still rejecting.
  • Paul always went to the Jew first.

214
  • See, take the word Goy and translate it as
Nation instead of Gentile as it shouldve
been translated and you have a completely
    different theology.
  • The translators just turned this passage into an
anti-Semitic attack and it stuck ever since.

215
  • So whats the big deal if they did?
  • Are we being a little oversensitive?
  • Its a big deal because by flipping the word goy
into Gentile here they just gave all the
Gentiles another reason to hate Jews.

216
  • Reason number 1 The Jews killed Christ
  • Reason number 2 God rejected the Jews therefore
    so can we
  • Turn G-d into an anti-Semite and theres
unlimited hate you can spew at the Children of
    Israel.

217
  • Ill show you one more thing concerning this
    passage
  • When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and
praised the word of the Lord. Acts 13
  • So obviously this passage is talking about the
Gentiles and NOT the nations! Look at the
    context.

218
  • Do you remember that the word goy was also
    translated as people 11 times?
  • Thats how it shouldve been translated here.
  • The Apostles turned to the Jews of the nations to
be a light to them and the people were glad about
it, they felt it was time to move on.

219
  • And this portion in acts is a quote by the way
    Isaiah 496 CJB
  • he has said, "It is not enough that you are
merely my servant to raise up the tribes of
Ya'akov and restore the offspring of Isra'el. I
will also make you a light to the nations, so my
salvation can spread to the ends of the earth."

220
  • Acts "It was necessary that the word of God
should be spoken first to you. Since you reject
it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal
life, we are now turning to the Gentiles
(nations). For so the Lord has commanded us,
saying, 'I have set you to be a light for the
Gentiles (nations), so that you may bring
salvation to the ends of the earth. "

221
  • Wanna know another big deal, this means Paul
wasnt the Apostle to the Gentiles. He was the
Apostle to the Jews of the Nations.

222
  • And if we all can understand that here today, we
as a Body, Beit Aveinu, can move forward.
  • Because now we can begin to understand Pauls
    true motives and goals.

223
  • Are you saying Paul DIDNT go to the Gentiles?
  • He did preach to some Gentiles SO DID EVERY OTHER
    JEWISH RABBI!
  • How do you think there were G-d Fearers there in
    the first place?

224
  • From Rabbis whod gone there before Paul ever
    went there.
  • This whole Christian idea that everything changed
when Paul decided to go to the Gentiles, that
Jews hadnt reached out to Gentiles before this.
    is false.

225
  • Back to the G-d Fearers
  • Were there many women who were G-d Fearers?
  • Very few, they didnt have the obstacle of
    circumcision to hurdle.
  • It was easy for them and because of that there
were many women proselytes to Judaism.

226
  • Judaism was the smart women's choice of faith.
  • It still is.

227
  • The few women G-d Fearers were women that had
only recently heard about Judaism or women who
had high positions in whichever Governments that
wouldve frowned on them being Jewish.

228
  • Cornelius's wife was more then likely a
proselyte, as were all the other woman of that
    household.

229
  • Becoming a Jew was and is the natural progression
of the faith. One cant stay a G-d Fearer
    forever.
  • Youre either moving forward or backwards, never
    stagnant.
  • Lets stand for the benediction.
