USING GODS GIFTSRomans 121-9
  • Penge Baptist Church

  • Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of Gods
mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to Godthis is your spiritual
act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to
test and approve what Gods will ishis good,
    pleasing and perfect will.
  • For by the grace given me I say to every one of
you Do not think of yourself more highly than
you ought, but rather think of yourself with
sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of
    faith God has given you.

  • Just as each of us has one body with many
members, and these members do not all have the
same function, so in Christ we who are many form
one body, and each member belongs to all the
    others.
  • We have different gifts, according to the grace
given us. If a mans gift is prophesying, let him
use it in proportion to his faith. If it is
serving, let him serve if it is teaching, let
him teach if it is encouraging, let him
encourage if it is contributing to the needs of
others, let him give generously if it is
leadership, let him govern diligently if it is
showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Being transformed to find Gods will for your
life.
  • Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and approve
what Gods will ishis good, pleasing and perfect
    will.

.avoiding pride and false humility.
  • For by the grace given me I say to every one of
you Do not think of yourself more highly than
you ought, but rather think of yourself with
sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of
    faith God has given you.

.to build up Christs body the church!
  • Just as each of us has one body with many
members, and these members do not all have the
same function, so in Christ we who are many form
one body, and each member belongs to all the
    others.

9
Spiritual gifts from God for the benefit of all!

To be done in an excellent and loving way
  • People were overwhelmed with amazement. He has
done everything well, they said. (Mark 737)
  • Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for men, (Colossians
    323)
  • And now I will show you the most excellent
way.if I have the gift of prophecy and can
fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I
have a faith that can move mountains, but have
    not love, I am nothing. (1 Corinthians 131, 3)

11
Faith is shown in deeds!
  • What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to
have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save
him? Suppose a brother or sister is without
clothes and daily food. If one of you says to
him, Go, I wish you well keep warm and well
fed, but does nothing about his physical needs,
what good is it? In the same way, faith by
itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is
dead. But someone will say, You have faith I
have deeds. Show me your faith without deeds,
and I will show you my faith by what I do. You
believe that there is one God. Good! Even the
demons believe thatand shudder. (James 214-19)

12
Consider Jesus commandments
  • Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in
the Law? Jesus replied Love the Lord your
God with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your mind. This is the first and
greatest commandment. And the second is like it
    Love your neighbor as yourself.

In view of Gods mercy
  • The cross is the key!
