  • Most commonly used rifle in the Civil War
  • Could hit a target from 500 yards away

  • It was the second most used rifle in the Civil
    War
  • It was a standard weapon of the British
  • Americans did like the Enfield, but soldiers
    preferred the Springfield because it offered
    interchangeable parts

Pistols and Revolvers
  • There were thousands of different styles used in
    the Civil War
  • The most commonly used one was the Colt Revolver
  • Primarily the .44 caliber model 1860 and the .36
    caliber Model 1851 Navy
  • These two guns were very light weight less than 3
    pounds

Edged Weapons
  • These were weapons such as bayonets, swords,
    knives, sabers, pikes, lances
  • Were often used more to decorate their owners
  • Very few men were injured in the Civil War by
    these weapons

Injuries from Weapons
  • There not much medicine in the Civil War
  • If you were hit in the chest or head with one of
    these weapons, you were most likely left to die.
  • If you were hit in the leg or arm with one of
    these weapons, your leg or arm would most likely
    be amputated.
  • Also there was no anesthesia or pain medicine.
